As others have commented in this chain, it is less about the housing thing for me personally. It is more about Square Enix's complete lack of response to something that they knew was going to be an issue. They know people are botting to buy houses and they blatantly do nothing about it even though it violates the terms of the agreement for the game.

They instituted a ridiculous timing system to force people to spend hours upon hours waiting for a house to be available. If they did them in a true auction style fashion, then there wouldn't be an issue. You bid high enough, you get the land. Players on Playstation 4 are getting shafted because they have to spend hours and hours getting hand cramps and possibly carpal tunnel, just to try and land a house. PC users can just throw on a bot and land a house easily without even being on their machine.

No, we didn't have to move from the server, if we wanted to deal with "derping role players" but when your entire Free Company decides that it is the best course of action, you either go and get shafted by a broken housing system or be left to play on a server with none of your friends there with you, making it that much harder to get certain quests and achievements done.

Square does take action against botters if you report them. Once more I'm hearing nothing from you but shifting blame and salt. As it's been shown over the years, (Coming from someone who has played this game since the beginning.) They will speak up and do something once more than just the NA or EU player base says something, do you just expect them to answer every crying person because they feel entitled?

To implement an auction system would completely ruin the point of housing and the system they have in place. When people are having to pay well over what the plot is worth just to own it, less people would even have houses, that's not really a good replacement system. They made it this way so people couldn't flip houses for godly amounts of gil, which sucks yes and its not perfect, but tbh no game is perfect. At the end of the day its a game and if you have a life you wouldn't be crying in forums over something so silly. Friends can still be chatted with via discord, new friends and fcs can always be found. Grow up.

Seems like that despite being an IT professionnal you can have half baked ideas as well, since such a system would only aggravate RMT (real money trading) problems in the game XD

Not really. As long as the Auction is controlled by them (SE) with them making housing Rare/Exclusive to your account/character, then that would combat RMT. If a player loses the house by not logging in, then SE can retain ownership after demolition. Have the Auction opened for a certain amount of hours like 4 and have no limit on how much that person pays for it. RMT's wont spend too much for it if it'sd rare/exclusive, that cuts into their gil that they could sell. Thery could also do like how the government gets contractors, take the 3 lowest tier, 3 mid tier, or 3 highest tier bids and have a bid off amongst those 3 to purchase. They could also do a first time buyers program for those who have never owned a house and make it soo they can't transfer plots for a year. Also when you auction for a house that money is tied up like a deposit if in the tier of 3.

Let's be honest though, a house on Balmung is worth more than 4 million. An auction system could be the healthiest way to resolve the system, without encouraging people to engage in unhealthy camping. The flipside could be if you want a cheap house, you'd be tempted to transfer to a server with lower population-- especially with the world visit system in place.

The problem is you're making large amounts of Gil necessary. People will BUY the gil from farmers, facilitating RMT.

Also you're unfairly giving buying power to those who stockpile gil. most players hover at sub medium house price levels of gil on any given character, how would a new player ever hope to compete with someone who's been in game from day one playing the markets?

I've had just as many bad players from the "raid servers" as I have from the "rp" servers.

Not sure how anyone could defend this game's woefully bad housing system.

14 housing is worse than games that did it 10 years before. Its really depressing when you think about it.

No one is actually making you move

Eh, I can see why a lot of people who are now on Crystal felt they had to move, and why a whole bunch did.

If you used the cross world implementation as an excuse to leave servers to do things like buy housing (one reason I left Cactuar over a year ago) but still have everyone on that server available to do raiding / dungeons and that sort of stuff with, you probably felt you HAD to go back to one of those servers where you knew people since you would no longer have any access to them post move.

It was a hotly debated thing among most of Coeurl's communities. I have more (Unable to Retrieve) on my friends list than I do actual names now. If I could have moved my house, my FC house and my alt FC house, I'd have felt like I HAD to move too. As it is, I just feel completely screwed over regardless of which I picked.

Issues like this are the main reason why My hubby and I will not be switching server. knowing that we left behind a lot of friends in a world we no longer have access too. Even more friend then we have on our current server. Luckily we can still use Discord to communicate but we just don't get to do content with.


I'm a Leader, 1/2 of our FC is looking at moving from Balmung to Cactar. My hubby and I will not because we both have personal houses.

Just give RP it's own dedicated servers and keep that cancer contained I say.

Just make instanced housing an option and the same size as regular houses. But since they're instanced, they cost less. People that want wards will go for those, and people that don't care will have an instanced house. I'd give up my shiro medium in a heartbeat for an instanced house.
