Have you played with some of these hard core role players? They don't understand that most of us have real lives to live and don't want someone spamming only one spell because "That's all my character learned before they got kicked out" (Yes we've heard this argument from an RP person on a server who literally only spammed the one ability and died repeatedly in a higher tier dungeon)

Yes I have and some of them are excellent at the game. It sounds like you're judging a very large community based on a tiny handful you have met.

Or you're looking for reasons to be angry at someone else other than yourself, so you target what you think is an easy group to put down.

SE has labelled the servers with an intent for RP to be on specific servers and then decides that for whatever internal reason

Please show me a screenshot of this because to my knowledge SE have so far not labelled any server for rp. In fact they very rarely talk about rpers.

The only reason for this that makes any sense is that it was a cash grab from their players.

How is giving out free transfers cash grabbing?

The Free Company we are a part of did a lot of scouting when the announcement was made that our server was being moved. At the time, the new server had the best potential. However, many people preemptively moved their characters by paying for the transfer to get ahead of the curve. That crippled it for those of us who were forced to wait.

So some moved sooner than others, which then messed up your plans. You just admitted that your group messed up things for yourself. Not SE. So this thread is little more than you trying to shift the blame to rpers and SE for your group's poor execution of plans.

Square Enix forced us to move by turning our server into an RP server and moving the node it was on. Now the years (yes plural) worth of playtime and work that we have accumulated are all for nothing because we get ousted and have no house anymore. The girlfriend has spent months farming specific things to get items to furnish the house and was forced to pack it all up because SQEX decided to screw us over.

She's ready to quit the game altogether because of this nonsense. They could easily alleviate this or have planned it better. I am an IT professional for a fortune 500 and this is the most half baked, unplanned thing I have ever seen from a supposed professional company.

I know quite a few actual IT professionals for large companies that will happily state where they work and what they do. They have nothing to hide.

Either way, YOU chose to transfer. SE didn't do anything. You are clearly NOT even in the IT field considering you clearly do not understand anything at all based on your posts so far. Working and being successful in IT involves being very logical, which clearly, you are not.

No one is defending it, it's a garbage system all around.

Yet I don't see anyone in the community coming up with a reasonable alternative that can actually function and isn't pretty much clinically insane.

I can think of one immediately:

House is relinquished by previous user.

For the next 24 (or 72, or whatever) hours, the house is un-purchasable. However, people can click "buy" and be entered into a raffle, spending the cost of the purchase price. At the end of the period, the house is given to a random person in the raffle. if nobody in the raffle, anyone can buy it.

- solves the issue of house flipping
- fairly solves the issue of players feeling forced to camp a plot for 11 hours (I just got my house that way last night and it sucks)
- is a solution that works on top of the existing system and would not require heavy reform

and that's just off the top of my head. There's lots of things they could do, this system is just a way to punish every player for some players daring to treat houses as a marketable item. And it doesn't even stop that. House selling still happens, because people who already have a house can move plots and circumvent the "can't buy this" timer. What the timer change to the current system did was only make it harder to get into this housing market.

I can agree with that, it would be a much more fair and less intensive system on the players camping for 5-15+ hours actually there trying.

It's more of a bad storage/inventory system. SE keeps blaming it on old 1.0 code but this is stuff they could dedicate 1 programmer to just fix and in the end make the players happier and SE's servers smoother.
