Given the on-going Flood of Light, mayybe it will be called the "Light Watch"?
There's exposed framework that makes it seem like the wall is a more recent addition, and given the blurbs about Eulmore and Kholosia on the promotional site, I'm getting a slightly more ominous feeling. Regardless, a giant wall to keep out invaders isn't exactly an idea limited to George RR Martin. This doesn't really strike me as ripoff territory. For starters this is a natural cliffside and not a wall. It just looks like a cliff with some kind of structure built in the middle there. Now if it turns out that's a barrier holding back Sin Eaters then maybe you'll have a point, but this doesn't strike me as a ripoff. We'll see how the area is handled in game.
For a totally different possibility, what if this is the edge of the halted Flood and the building got mostly eaten by it?
Not sure if it works out, but people were saying that's a thing elsewhere, so... hmm.
Whatever it is, it's not equivalent to La Noscea's Skylift, because that happened recently in the Calamity.
This insular tribe dwells upon Mt. Gulg in Kholusia, its diminutive people rarely leaving the community of their birth. Dwarves are known for their skill at mining, metallurgy, and crafting mechanical marvels, but they themselves consider the true marks of dwarfhood to be respect for tradition and adherence to strict ancestral laws.Sounds like it'll be a dwarven structure built into a cliff rather than any kind of barrier or a stopped flood if it's the place with the least amount of attacks. The largest island in Norvrandt, the greater part of Kholusia lies under the dominion of Eulmore, the city of final pleasures. Compared to other lands, it is known for experiencing few sin eater attacks, a reputation which draws throngs of refugees to its shores.
I feel the Eulmore blurb matters somewhat.
I feel like them suddenly ceasing their fight, the island suffering few sin eater attacks, a massive refugee population built around the city proper because of that, and a giant wall that would keep that population penned in are likely connected. There's also the fact that Minfilia, who successfully halted the Flood's advance in Ahm Arang, ended up trapped in caverns beneath the city. With its influence extending across the majority of the isle of Kholusia, this powerful military nation once stood firm against the onslaught of the sin eaters. Recent years have seen a drastic shift in Eulmore's position, with the wealthy upper classes turning their backs on the plight of the world, indulging in an endless parade of decadence and debauchery.
It is a thing, in Amh Araeng. Most of the city-like structure can be seen swallowed up by the crystallized flood of light. For a totally different possibility, what if this is the edge of the halted Flood and the building got mostly eaten by it?

That's fair though I hadn't thought of Eulmore's relevance because of the apparently dwarven mechanism and it being a natural cliff face.
from what i can tell the purpose is inverted, that looks like the city in the background so this cliff keeps things down presumably by the coast while the got wall serves to allow people to make it to the top to patrol "great wall" style
if anything that lift gives me narshe vibes
I wonder if the debauched upper class deliberately imprisoned her there? I could see a kind of twisted logic in them resisting the efforts of their savior. After all, they basically threw the rest of the world under the bus so they could spend the rest of their few remaining days living it up. If the world DOESN'T end, the people will remember how the nobility abandoned them. Their end at the hands of those they abandoned will likely not be pleasant. With a grim end inevitable either way, it wouldn't be too surprising if the nobles chose the clean nothingness of the Flood to whatever horrors the common folk would subject them to. Never mind that their choice dooms EVERYONE, instead of just themselves (because, really, who else matters?).
Yes, I do believe the Dark Knight will find rich hunting grounds in Eulmore...
