Random crashes and/or game closes itself.

So this issue first started with patch 4.36 (8/7/2018). When I was doing Rathalos Extreme, no problems at all until I went to leave the instance. Upon leaving, the game hung and force closed itself, no error message, no nothing. Upon trying to relog on that character, it gets as far as the loading screen and does the same thing and hangs for a second and closes with no error message.

This issue has been reoccuring at in irregular rate since that patch and I have yet to figure out any solution.

Troubleshooting I've tried:
-Switching from DX11 to DX9
-Compatibility mode set to Windows 7 (gave a DX11 error doing this)
-Logging into other characters
-Resetting my PC
-Using a different PC.

You may want to try reinstalling the game if you haven't already. When you do, make sure you delete the locally saved data (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV).

Indeed I have tried it on a different PC. It was my previous one that I had built which had an i7 4930k (3.4GHz, 6-core), 32 GB DDR3, and a GTX 1080. Upon building my current one I'm using at the beginning of this year, I did a completely fresh install of the Game, no copying over files or anything. The game ran flawless on both systems apart from when this issue appeared. Which, as you can imagine, confused me when it began occurring on this machine as well.

If you think it may help, I may be able to upload the system info from the previous system as well.

As I mentioned previously, the issue isn't always present. It'll appear and disappear seemingly at random without anything changing outside of the game. The only thing I can think of to say is that the issue seems to primarily happen when in Kugane, but it has also happened in Rhalger's reach, as well as some instanced content.

Can you think of any similarities between the two PCs? Whether it be the same hardware or a program that's usually running while playing both?

Is any part of your PC overclocked?

You may want to try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

Try closing other programs that may be open while playing the game (including any overlays such as Geforce Experience, Discord Overlay, etc.).

If those do not work, reinstall the game. When you do this, make sure to delete the locally saved files (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV).

Apart from the part manufacturer's, all the hardware in my current PC is brand new.

As for software, that's a difficult question and I'll try to eliminate any possible software conflicts next time the issue appears and see if it changes anything.

Currently I do have my CPU overclocked, but the issue was still present before I overclocked it as well as on my last PC which was not overclocked. It doesn't appear the issue is being caused by a hardware fault from what I've been seeing.

I will indeed try some of those suggestions next time the issue arises, and will report back if anything changes.
