Housing Transfers Should Be On Timers

As someone who has had the gil to buy a house for a while, and not been able to do so, the whole system is like pulling teeth - every step of the way.

Finding a spot is like pulling teeth
Stalking it is like pulling teeth
Aggressively defending it by spam clicking because of an invisible timer is like pulling teeth

The whole system makes no sense, and I'm at the point where I don't even want a house anymore because buying one is pointless, and un-enjoyable.

I spent all day yesterday aggressively looking for a plot of land, and couldn't get any, going as far to stalk one plot no one seemed interested in for 4 hours, only to have someone come over and move their house to it.

I had a large house up until I quit, so I've enjoyed housing and the way it's set up. With that said, I do think that there should be heavier restrictions on housing. One house per account or server. Make people buy more accounts to own more than one house on the same server. It'll get the devs more money and open up more housing. Those who already have multiple houses should get a month or two warning before it's implemented and have some way to choose the house they want to keep.

That or - I know it's a pipe dream but- it would be nice if they could expand the servers enough so they could auto generate new wards when all the others fill up. I doubt I'll get another house since I'm not a full time player anymore but housing has always been an issue on this game.

Just spent the night running to every ward in the server looking for a house. No success with the timers. I always feel a bit bad when I run up to a group who has been camping to click one the house before moving to the next one. Like if I were to get it how many people were camping it for 10 plus hours. But that's just how it is with their housing market.

I imagine chances are better like when maintenance ends at 3am tonight.

I think the key is to not make it your focal point. Just play the game and occasionally do a house run through the districts and see if you get lucky. That and odd hours / right after maint.

Can you transfer an already owned house to another plot in any of the areas, or do you have to stick to your area? (lavender, mist, etc)

You can transfer to any plot in any area. I think the salt for housing is real though. My friend camped a place for 14 hours...only to have it swiped from right under him. As a rule i only transfer if i dont see any interest and i really want the plot. Im currently happy with my beach home in mist...

Good to know. In that case, I'll take whatever I can get and just transfer later if I don't like it.

They not only need more plots, but need to tweak the existing ones to allow ALL plots to be upgradeable Small-> Medium -> Large. 3 Mansions per ward is ridiculous.

That's not a tweak, that's a complete redesign of each housing zone in addition to ensuring the stability of having to possibly load up 1200 pieces of outdoor furniture instead of the current 730. Unfortunately, the wards were never planned out or built for flexibility.

Maybe some Medium/Large-only wards built specifically for it? A "Rich Neighborhood" so to speak?

I hope to get a house, shanty, cardbox one day in FFXIV. I have an apartment but that is about it, i do wish we could buy an extra floor for the apartment or even a balcony to look over the ward.

I have the money for a plot but they are never open and I can't sit there for 14 hours waiting for the timer to run out. Here is hoping that I can snag one after this emergency maintenance or in SB.

Ya like in real life...the hardest part is getting foot in the door. I was lucky i bought my plot when the server was empty and price lowered to 1.5 mill. Spent everything i had xD
