The way to fix the lack of housing is to reset an refund every house.. With the new rules of 1 house per account, they should be removing the houses of those that have bought multiple or are controlling entire districts.

Refund all housing costs and send like 3m gil like they're currently offering to all players with houses.. They can then buy a new house once the timers are up and there will be more open options for other players because it's 1 per account instead of an entire instance per one player.

As much as that would hlep and should have been done long ago. SE, Yoshida, doesn't want to do this to the ones that had purchased their homes back when it was legitimate. They stated when they implemented this change for the 1/1 per account/world, they weren't gonna remove houses from those that already have more then one. It's stupid but one way or another someone is going to be pissed.

Personally I'm hoping that if we get Ishgard housing it will be instanced (with size options and maybe a greenhouse instance). I understand that they don't want to redo all the wards and take houses away from people (altho i would be fine with that).

Also I'm 100% against lottery. It will do nothing to solve the problem imo.

HELL NO! That's in no way fair to those that got their houses fairly. And it won't solve the issue at all, all it would to do is piss off way more people and change who is complaining without reducing the number complaining. Not everyone owns more than one house, its only a small minority that do. This was stupid idea and you should feel bad for suggesting it.
You think doing this is going to guarantee you a house? Think again.

HELL NO! That's in no way fair to those that got their houses fairly. And it won't solve the issue at all, all it would to do is piss off way more people and change who is complaining without reducing the number complaining. Not everyone owns more than one house, its only a small minority that do. This was stupid idea and you should feel bad for suggesting it.
You think doing this is going to guarantee you a house? Think again.

1)I already own a house.
2)it would fix a good deal with the lack of housing.
3)those people abused a system to get multiple house, they don't deserve the mercy of caring whether they're upset they lost 20+ houses or not.

You would lose your house too without a guarantee you would get another. If you wanna give up your house for someone else to have a chance at it, you go right on ahead. Don't suggest your stupid idea on the rest of us.

I don't like mansions. So I wouldn't be okay with this if that was our only choice.

The auto demolition has been suspended since Oct 2018, meaning all evictions for unattended houses stopped until recently (patch 4.57). Before then with the new one house/fc per account and timers on plots seemed to make things a bit better. I know on my server I could go to the aetheryte and see a few plots available for purchase.

That being said, before this housing was 10x worse. Try researching the ffxiv history of housing. When housing was first introduced, the prices were so astronomical that there were empty plots everywhere for a long time, nobody could buy them. Then they made them more affordable and plots were swooped up. Some single players with multiple houses to try to profit from the influx of buyers. RMT too had to stick their grubby hands in on this profitable venture that SE created from the start.

And now here we are and the auto demolition was finally put back in place two days ago, which in turn started freeing up a few plots. The players who waited through the long suspension of auto demo then piled on top of one another at what few plots became available. The kicking, screaming and frustration begins all over again. Buying plots is terrible due to supply and demand, but it did improve there for a time. I think SE's timing on removing the auto demo contributed to the frustration of buying plots. Right in the middle of server splits and transfers.

Pricing then was also split between servers instead as a whole like it is now.

Owning more then one personal house is unfair and selfish! Give me a good reason why a player would need more than one personal house?
