Housing Timer why x.x

I moved to Coeurl this morning and have been at this exact same house for 12 hours straight, unable to buy. I literally went to work and came back and it still was unbuyable. Im starting to feel like Squenix doesn\\'t want Indifferen players to have their own houses x.x

I can understand why they implemented the timer but I think it's excessive

I absolutely loathe the timer. I've been trying to buy a house for over a month with the limited time I can play, and they almost never expire during that time. It seems like it always happens really early in the morning or really late at night. I'm extremely irritated with it after trying to buy a plot for four hours tonight. They need to reduce the max time on it, and make the timer visible so that I don't have to waste my time standing there for hours unable to enjoy the game.

I think they should make it a lotto system. Say 24 hours where a plot is open and you can put your name in, at the end of the 24 hrs the plot is yours, it takes your gil. If you don't have the gil, it moves on to the next in line. Its better than bidding cuz then more than rich people will be able to buy it.

God no please why does every thread like this have suggestions about lottery? That won't fix the housing shortage. We need more houses, not more rng. Lottery will do nothing for the housing shortage. All it does is make competing for a house less inconvenient. It won't change how many players can get a house, it only changes who gets it. There would still be just as many unhappy homeless players.

There would be no need for this placard timer nonsense if there wasn't such a massive shortage of houses. So logically what needs to be fixed is the shortage, not the placard. Fix the problem, not the symptom.

I'm not exactly keen on the idea of a lottery system, but this is exactly the problem people are hoping a lottery will solve. No one's arguing that it will fix the housing shortage. Just the (rather extreme) inconvenience of placard clicking. I have a lot of sympathy for that viewpoint, because the placard spam sounds awful, so I can see why so many people are begging for a lottery system at this point. A note from SE that they have plans for a proper fix would probably make those people feel less desperate and we wouldn't see the lottery request so much.

I understand that but if lottery gets introduced people would still be complaining because not everyone can be a winner. Before the placard timer was introduced people were complaining because they rarely saw open plots. People are going to keep complaining as long as there is a housing shortage because the ward system is unsustainable. As long as we have only the ward system, any fixes SE introduce merely trade one set of complaints for another.

100% agreed, but that's a long-term fix and there's no sign that anything like it is in the works. Right now the problem is that people are having an awful time with the placard spam and SE isn't saying anything to acknowledge the issue. The reason people are suggesting 'make it a lottery' is because they assume that is a quick change that SE could throw in, so hey, maybe if we ask enough, they will be willing to do it in a patch some time. If SE said something like "we recognize that the housing system is not ideal but give us some time, we're working to fix it", people would at least know they're being heard and there's something to look forward to on the horizon.

If in the event that SE reset all housing, it should be for a housing solution that 100% guarantees ALL players a large house at a location to their liking.
