This says it's prized by goldsmiths that make it into jewelry, except that it isnt and they don't. Is there some recepie that isnt listed anywhere or something that I am missing?

The current state of recipes and materials, especially for Goldsmith, is just all over the place at the moment. There is basically little rhyme or reason to how things are being done. The only answer is that things are currently changing, slowly, very slowly, but eventually all the old mats and recipes will be removed, new mats and recipes added/updated and things will finally make sense (I can dream can't I?) Whether this will happen this year or not until 2.0 or later is anyone's guess.
