Current restrictions on preferred worlds and the upcoming free transfer weeks

Anyone feel that the 90 day restriction on new characters / incoming characters on preferred worlds should have been lessened for the upcoming free transfer weeks?

I've been seeing a lot of comments in discords about how "x friend(s) who recently started will not be able to transfer to my world because of the restriction" and of the sort. It occurred to me that it's a bit annoying they wouldn't at least lessen the restrictions during the two weeks of free transfers.

This world visit was announced a while back (though no new information about the interactions of preferred world restrictions and the free transfers), and so I created a character to transfer to another DC along with my raid group. However, when new information was released saying that the 90 day restriction still applied, I was upset because 90 days on that character elapses the day right after the free transfers close.

What's your opinions on this? and are you in the same boat where friends are not able to transfer?

Yeah absolutely. My character is 45 days old and created on a preferred world. Rather annoyed by those restrictions. I would be fine with them taking away my XP bonus if I transfer to a regular world, but not letting me transfer at all is way too restrictive in my opinion.

They're offering free server transfer to everyone to compensate for the inconvenience caused by imposing a data center split. I wasn't less inconvenienced than other people because I happen to be on a preferred world that probably soon won't be one anymore if the euro data center split is anything to go by. Take away my bonuses, I don't care, just let me follow my CWLS lol

I think it's understandable, though I would have hoped that they would have lessened it for this rare server re-distribution. I created this thread just to see what other peoples' thoughts are since it basically meant you were screwed over if you're new or creating an alt (because different DC) to play with friends who happened to be on a server that's been chosen as preferred. You would have been forced to play on a different world for a couple months. Which may not seem like a big deal, but you wouldn't be able to do certain stuff like maps, join the same FC, linkshell (if they already have a CWL), etc for a while. The worst part is that you would be on a different DC, and thus unable to play with friends who may have wanted to stay on a certain DC (unless you pay for the transfer after the restriction wears off).

To be fair the Data Center shuffle was announced back in November along with a list of which worlds were going where. That was more than 90 days ago and more than enough time for people making characters on preferred worlds to make sure they were going to end up on the right data center.

Yup that's true. I should've made an alt sooner, though making an alt didn't cross my mind since the raid group was fairly new.

Though another issue is that the free starter edition from Twitch Prime starts around the time where a new character on a preferred world would then miss the free transfers. New people are bound to miss information about the restrictions of creating a character on a preferred world since I don't think(?) its given in-game.

I kinda expected them to drop the preferred status/restrictions, much like they did for EU, if for no other reason than to allow all players the freedom to shuffle around and settle in as needed before seeing what the population distribution will be like in the end.

Well, looks like they did exactly that. Kinda sucks that there's I guess maybe probably no way for them to just lift the 90 day restrictions, tho?
