It's unfortunate a western tailored player base has to have its hand held because they can't function without rattling in front of them. Because that's what you've essentially just described.
I wonder if the east has this problems during times like these. Probably not.
Yep, I'm used to pretty high standards in regards to gaming. Sorry?
Your idea of high standards is being treated like a child? Well ok then. At least your honest about it.
Those of us who know how to look at updates and notifications will continue not being surprised when game goes down for maintenance. Something the rest of us figure is at least decent standards to have.
Am I the only one who has to go through this after hitting play in the launcher since a couple of days ?
I don't think so.
This is even better than what WoW does because you need to hit "OK" to make it disappear, if people don't read this, it is completely their fault.
It says the 23rd, Brah, and that scroll bar is nearly invisible to me. And isn't that about the usual for maintenance days? Wasn't expecting more. And seeing error 2002 didn't help clear matters up.
I just wanted to add this thread of ideas that I imagine for many it feels like agreeing to a ToS and people's eyes glaze over. Putting it into the news panel (sliding panel, not the thing below it lol which it already is there) would help in that its like three words in large color font and people will actually read that (more likely than small text or ToS text).
Not saying it's perfect but just wanted to add that a large image with a few words is a different style of presentation than the others (ok button and news section). Not that I think SE failed us or anything, they clearly tried pretty hard with a whole page you have to hit ok to lol. Just thinking that an image with a few words may help in attracting a different type of person's attention (like youtube thumbnail) vs people who prefer to read articles without many or any pictures- of course there will be some overlap and some people missed either way XD.
No it would not of prevented this. There will always be people who don't read updates and notifications no matter what you do. The fault lies squarely on the people who don't read the updates.
No no, I started saying it could have been more obvious.
But after some ppl came out of the woodwork to lol at the ppl who were confused and upset about, what to them, was an unexpected and unpleasant surprise I started saying it was avoidable and how THAT could have been prevented. Read harder.
I was berating the ppl who berated the confused. That's me, always looking out for the little guys.

That's not the way you came off as. And some people will never notice the updates no matter how flashy and in your face it is. SE gives plenty of notifications and if you don't take notice, thats entirely your own fault.
Well, if nothing else those reading this will see what getting involved in forums gets you. Mission accomplished in that regard. And I will ALWAYS find things to critique in this game and any other. That's how common ppl like us help make games better. If someone in game management has seen this and thought to themselves, "Maybe there are ways we can better prevent confusion to our players," then all the bashing has been worth it and I'll not feel sorry for it.
P.S. This is just one of many forums about the same topic. What does that tell you?
