Wonder if there would be any increase in info view/retention if you had to interact in game lol. Login, prompt tells you about what's going on and then gives you three chocobo responses (correct response is in the prompt). Maybe major maintenance (longer than a few hours) should be in the sliding news panel though, first one in the panel then it can switch to current in-game events and mogshop stuff. Not sure there is much they can do beyond maybe creating an email list people can subscribe to that updates them on maintenance info (when, early completion, etc).

For a general bit unrelated comment though I wish every time there was maintenance that they would water all the plants lol.
In WoW, they have current updates and info in a window that you see even before you log in. You can't miss it. Yes, they do give you all the info you need, but they could do it better. Simple steps could have easily prevented this thread's existence.
