Lotta single digit postcount people coming in to complain... amazing how they figured out where the forums general chat were before reading the announcements in the launcher OR the posts from the devs about the maintenance.

Ikr? Suddenly they know where to complain about it. Suddenly, they finally start looking at the notices on the launcher. Suddenly, it's SE's fault for not writing in huge ass letters when it's maintenance.


A lot of suddenly stuff that could've been avoided if they took a couple a minutes to read the news section in the main site once in a while instead on the day things finally happen.

People slay me when they play mmos and act like they're never supposed to go down for maintenance.

The announcements are there, sometimes even when you log on and have to go through a nice big ol' screen of "Hey guys game's gonna be down for some time." How people miss it and then cry make me wonder how we even play the same game.

See it's posts like these that make me realise that people don't pay attention to anything until it affects them right then.

1. People don't understand why they cannot log in.
2. People search the forums for answers because encountering an error does not suggest something planned is happening.
3. Well in advance notice does not mean well informed, just that it was noted to be upcoming.
4. People expect there to be an obvious answer if there IS something planned.
5. Forum lords sneer and cite poor reading skills and/or laziness (with the exception of those who simply answered).
6. Don't do that.
7. There is always room for improvement and suggesting that things are fine is what's lazy.

Can't help people that don't want to help themselves. People that don't understand how MMO's operate somehow think that the game developer himself needs to call them on their personal phone to feed them the information. Obviously a massive over exaggeration, but apparently a giant notice every time they log into the game somehow isn't enough.

Yes and we also need doors with several handles because someone didn't look down and see the lone knob.

1. nobody claimed they didn't know WHY people were here.
2.again, it's understood why they came here, but we're generally mocking how they didn't discover any of the obvious and prominent postings of what was actually happening as well as the further assertions that this wasn't announced or shown well enough
3. Well in advance gives people large opportunities to familiarize and plan. A lack of doing so is nobodies fault but the user.

5.lords? we're all just posters here yo. Some of us just spend more time than others. We don't think we're better than someone with smaller postcounts, it's just indicative that you're new.

7. There is a point where no amount of grabbing someone's ears and pointing their face at a notice will help and further redundancy only serves to annoy those who are actually paying attention. There is ample notice given and near obnoxious levels of information available about whats going on.

I feel they do pretty good noting people about maintenance info in advance.. with that whole page you have to click ok through to login.

Wonder if there would be any increase in info view/retention if you had to interact in game lol. Login, prompt tells you about what's going on and then gives you three chocobo responses (correct response is in the prompt). Pick the right one and you get free teleports or extra exp for the day, pick the wrong one and a sad moogle trumpet plays :3.

Maybe major maintenance (longer than a few hours) should be in the sliding news panel though, first one in the panel then it can switch to current in-game events and mogshop stuff. Not sure there is much they can do beyond maybe creating an email list people can subscribe to that updates them on maintenance info (when, early completion, etc).

For a general bit unrelated comment though I wish every time there was maintenance that they would water all the plants lol.

In WoW, they have current updates and info in a window that you see even before you log in. You can't miss it. Yes, they do give you all the info you need, but they could do it better. Simple steps could have easily prevented this thread's existence.

Even putting it in your face doesn't help. There is always a screen with maint info that pops up on login that you have to interact with to continue to the game and people still complain about not knowing about maintenance.

Multiple links in a gilded box that takes up a fourth of the launcher. There's also been a notification in the chat upon logging in for several days.
