Making friendships is a really difficult thing to do, and it takes a lot of tries to finally find one that can be fulfilling to both people involved for some. I personally think it goes beyond just asking people to run dungeons together from time to time, or speaking actively in FC chat.

The easiest way I’ve found to make friends in this game is to find people that have mutual interests—a lot of my friends are into raiding, for example; or they play BRD, so we can relate there. Some like to farm EX primals; some like to queue in randomly to content for fun (e.g., my best friend and I like to do random Raid Roulettes late at night to see if we get any fun parties, or just to get some of the Alexander floors again—I also have a friend who likes to run Orbonne Monastery with me just to see if we get that meme party). The more you have in common with someone, the easier it will be for you to become friends with them. Especially in the context of playing a video game together—enjoying the same types of content means that you’ll have more opportunities to play together.

That being said, though friendships take a lot of effort to find and maintain, if they are meant to happen, they will happen. You cannot force a friendship with someone; some people make better acquaintances than they do friends, and some people are better to just let go. So one really has to find a balance between actively trying to form friendships through doing stuff together with a person, and also allowing the friendship to flourish naturally and not in a forced way.

All you can do is keep trying. Eventually, I’m sure you’ll find a person that you can call a good friend.
