    Change Optimal EXP Party size from Full Parties to Light Parties

    Something similar to this was posted in the JP forums, and I thought it was a pretty good idea.

    Changing the optimal exp party size from full parties to light parties can solve a few negative aspects of current exp parties. A few good things this change can bring to the exping process:
    • EXP Parties will be faster and easier to make.
    • It would make it so tactics like crowd controlling are actually necessary.
    • The amount brought to the party by each member would be more noticeable.
    • It can slow down the exp process.
    • It would make it so you can't AoE zerg everything.
    • It would make it so you can't have people slacking off.
    • Monsters would live long enough to do pull off full combos.
    • It would add challenge to exping.


    I'd really like exping to be more enjoyable. With the job system coming soon, small groups would probably be able to function better than they can now. Also, when they bring back the battle regimen system, it would be kinda lame to have monsters die before you can pull them off.

    I understand not everyone will see the listed things as positive. I just think the current exp process is very boring and a few changes wouldn't hurt.

    The problem with this is that there is only 1 healing class, and you will need one healer per party.
    So with groups only made up of 4 we will run out of healers.
    This is already an issue with parties of 8.

    That is true. I wonder if paladin + bard would be enough to keep a party alive.

    4 people should not be optimal, otherwise people would exclude others from their party. There should always be an incentive to bring in more people who need xp into the party.

    I'd suggest having the XP/hour reach a certain level once you have 4 people in your party, then, if a friend of any other people want to join they don't hurt your xp/hour.

    Main bonus starts at 4+ members, and then gets 15% bonus for full party?

    Not big enough to make a significant impact, but still incentive to use full party if available?
