    New player .different jobs questions.

So I am a kinda new player . I want to understand the job and class .
I want to do all jobs and class on this character as I like her very much .
I have only played eso and wow before .
So how do I achieve this and once I change class or job how do I proceed ? Do I need to do questing from starting area or I can do quests from Current expansion ?
Also I will be very much obliged if you can tell me rotation on bard .I don't understand much of the terminologies used here .
Also materia is like gem in wow ? Which gives you additional stats boost ?

For ARR jobs they all have a starting place in one of the starter cities and all start at level 1. All but rogue has a guild receptionist that you'll have to talk to and after you're given the starter weapon you equip it and make a new gear set. the three HW jobs you have to be able to enter Ishgard and two of the start at their guilds while I want to say drk starts at the church? They also start at level 30. Samurai and Red Mage start at level 50 and are both in Uldah. Rogue you have to talk to a guy south of the fishing guild in Limsa. Blue mage starts in Limsa and is limited and is currently capped at lv 50 but starts at level 1. The two new jobs coming in the expansion will start at level 60 one in Gridania and the other I want to say is Limsa? I don't remember.

Classes all start at level 1 and level independently of each other. If you get archer to level 10 and then switch to gladiator, your gladiator will start back at level 1. However, your archer will still be level 10 when you change back. You never permanently lose levels when changing classes/jobs. At level 30 classes can (sort of) upgrade into jobs. Jobs are not classes though. They have no levels and gain no exp on their own*. A job is basically just a piece of equipment that gives a class access to more skills and gear. A paladin is still a gladiator, just with extra spells and shinier armor.

*The exception to this is expansion jobs which have no base classes and start at higher levels (30 for Heavensward, 50 for Stormblood, and 60 for Shadowbringers.)

Which terminology don't you understand? The bard rotation as a new player and the bard rotation at endgame are VERY different, so knowing where your confusion comes from would be helpful.

Yes, materia is like gems in WoW. If a piece of gear as a materia slot you can put a materia there to increase its stats. There are materia melder NPCs in every major city who will slot materia for you for a nomial fee (crafters can also do this.) You can't put just any materia into any piece of equipment though. Gear has stat caps (based on item level) so no putting +40 crit on a level 1 item or anything like that.

You do a simple talk-to-the-NPC type of quest to unlock each one. Once unlocked, you switch between them by equipping their respective weapon or tool. In the case of ARR combat jobs (other than BLU) you also need to equip their job stone, as it's what distinguishes between whether you're on the base class or it's job.

Each class is leveled up separately, so you'll be choosing content based on the level of your current class, even if you have others that are higher. You'll also need gear suitable to each one's level and role.

I haven't played WoW, but it is a way to add extra stats to your gear. Used gear that has reached 100% spiritbond (a gear stat that essentially measures how much you've done while wearing that gear) can be converted into materia. The gear is destroyed in the process, so it's typically done with old leveling gear when you're replacing it anyway. But the materia you get from that conversion can then be applied ("melded") to your new gear in order to boost it's stats a bit higher. (There are limits to how high each stat can be boosted, though, so you'll want to make sure the gear you're melding it onto can accept the extra stats. Those limits are listed at the bottom of the melding window for selecting the materia to use.)

I'll leave the Bard question to people who are higher level.

You're lv60, so I'm not sure how simple of a guide you're looking for. Here's a REALLY stripped-down BRD guide.

    Keep Straight Shot up
    Keep DoTs* up
    Keep a song up
    Always keep your GCD** rolling
If you're dealing with 3+ targets, use Quick Nock instead of Heavy Shot (apply some DoTs first though)
If you're dealing with 2+ targets, use Rain of Death instead of Bloodletter (Rain of Death is Lv45, so this advice only applies past that level, obviously)

*DoT - Damage over Time. For Bard, that's Venomous Bite and Windbite. When these DoT effects crit, they trigger your song bonuses.
**GCD - Global Cooldown. These are your skills that share the same cooldown as Heavy Shot.

If your response to that is "duh, I knew all that" then here's a slightly more complex one I made a couple days ago:
    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-starting-Bard

Here's a thread discussing large pulls as BRD:
    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...aoe-ing-as-BRD

If you also knew all that, then I would suggest just googling for a lv70 in-depth guide. The job doesn't change much past Lv56, and I see that you are lv60.
