It's a great guide but I have some minor suggestions:

For the last leg (r46+) I would suggest making linen shortgloves (1 linen + 1 dew thread) or chef's hats (2 velveteen +1 dew thread). The SP is pretty meh after rank 40, but all that flax starts costing some serious gil and both of those npc decently.

I'd also add Woolen Yarn (fleece x2, natron, distilled water) for around rank 40 or so. Depending on the price of fleece in the wards and the price of flax, wool can actually be cheaper than linen. Both distilled water and natron are available in alchemist's guild. The game is down now, but I believe it's 70 gil for the water and 2178 for the natron.

Also, for r46+ I'd suggest Woolen Cloth (3 woolen yarn) for the last few ranks. At r45, I'm pretty much getting 330 sp for linen cloth and woolen gets me almost 600 sp per synth.

Again, thanks for the great guide!

Finally got around to checking again and could read it. Good guide. I'm not convinced about pouring money into master buff, since I've gotten to 38 pretty smoothly using only the required level of support. However, the recommended path for materials and choice of recipes was good.

All the items listed in the guide will be listed as such: Rank Range,Item Name (Actual Recipe Rank), Materials.

1-10

Hempen yarn - Purchasable from the NPC for 249g. Sold by Eosilie (Limsa 6-5 - East Hawker's Alley), Foinine (7-4 -

Gridania - Rosewood Stalls), Norbettaux (Ul'dah - 7-6 - Sunsilk Tapestries (a.k.a Weaver's Guild))

Hempen Cloth - Purchasable from the NPC for 1920g. Sold by Eosilie (Limsa 6-5 - East Hawker's Alley), Foinine (7-4 -

Gridania - Rosewood Stalls), Norbettaux (Ul'dah - 7-6 - Sunsilk Tapestries (a.k.a Weaver's Guild))

Undyed Cotton Cloth - Easily purchased from Players in Wards

Before you get started, I recommend making your way to Ul'dah to the Sunsilk Tapestries, which is the Weaver's guild. It is located at (7-6), around the lower right hand corner of the map. Once you are there, speak to Norbettaux and ask for synthesis support. Take the Master's Buff, there is no reason to take any of the lower ones, since you are there. This well help you through the synths to come.

Hempen Yarn (1)
Lightning Shard (x6)
Moko Grass (x2)

If you have the moko grass to spare, go ahead and make this to your hearts content. Considering you can buy this cheaply from NPCs (listed below), there is not any real -need- to do this synth, unless you are so cash poor you can't afford it. I recommend skipping this and starting with the Scarf or Turban.

Rank 1-5: Hempen Scarf (5)-
Undyed Hempen Cloth (x1)
Hempen Yarn (x1)
Wind Shard (x5)

Rank 1-7 Hempen Turban (7)
Undyed Hempen Cloth (x1)
Hempen Yarn (x1)
Wind Shard (x5)

Both the scarf and the turban are great starter synths. Start with turban, even though it is a higher rank. If you are having difficulty with the turban, make the scarf until the turban becomes doable. The first 10 ranks go by fast anyway, so you won't be stuck doing them for too long . You can buy all the necessary materials for these synths from the NPC's listed above.

Rank 6-? - Undyed Hempen Cloth (8)
Earth Shard (x5)
Hempen Yarn (x3)

The first basic cloth synth that you'll run into. You should get comfortable with the fact that you are going to be making A LOT of cloth skilling up your weaving. You can start this around rank 6, possibly earlier, but I don`t recommmend it. I only recommend this synth if you have trouble with Cotton Yarn or Cotton Fent, the next two synths.

7-? - Cotton Yarn x12 (11)
Lightning Crystal (x1)
Cotton Boll (x2)
Uses Spinning Training

Get use to doing this synth over and over and over again. You won't stop using cotton yarn until you're into late 40's. Due to the fact that you will be using the yarn for the next while, you will want to skill up on the yarn as long as you can stand to do so. Although this synth does use spinning training, you should not have many issues with the synth around rank 7, providing you have some crafting gear and the level 7 needle or the level 10 secondary tool. You should use the offhand tool if you can. Not only is it easier to complete the synth but random HQ's will net you more yarn.

7-? - Cotton Fent (11)
Wind Shard (x5)
Undyed Cotton Cloth (x1)

If you're having trouble with yarn, this synth should bridge the gap until you feel comfortable in completeing the synth. Now, I know that the Cotton Cloth itself is a higher level synth however, most people, after creating the cloth for skill ups, don't use the results, meaning they sell it in the wards, usually fairly cheap! You might even know someone skilling up on them, so ask them for the leftovers.

11-15 - Cotton Half Gloves (15)
Earth Shard (x4)
Wind Shard (x3)
Undyed Cotton Cloth (x1)
Cotton Yarn (x1)
*Glovemaking*

By rank 11, you should be making cotton yarn easily. Again, I recommend skilling up on the yarn as far as possible, but if the skill points are too low for you at rank 11, consider switching to these. Fairly easy to make, even without glovemaking training and you can purchase the cloth from the wards like you would have for cotton fent.

13 - ?Undyed Cotton Cloth x3 (19)
Earth Shard (x7)
Cotton Yarn (x3)
*Weaving Training*

Now it's time to get down to business. Here's a synth you can use for a few levels. You may have a little difficulty with the synth at rank 13, but by rank 14 (assuming master facilities) you should have no problems skilling up off this synth.

You may want to keep cloth when your finished, as there is a rank up recipe you can use at later levels. If you'd like to use up your cloth as you make it, you might consider doing 1 cloth synth, followed by 3 Cotton Half Glove synths, as each Undyed Cotton Cloth synth produces 3 cloth. I'd recommend taking this until you can make Undyed Canvas.

[NOTE]: Make sure that, at rank 10 and onward, you check Local Levequests for ones that are rank 15 or higher. Completing them has a chance to get you guild marks, which you WILL NEED. You should save up 5000 as fast as possible and get Weaving Training. It'll make your life a whole lot easier!

20 - 30+Undyed Canvas (29) or Colored Canvas (30)(+3 water shards and dyeing)
Earth Shard (x9)
Cotton Yarn (x4)
*Appropriate Dye (If making dyed)
*Weaving Training* *Could start at 20*

This is where you are really going to want Weaving Training, it will make a -world- of difference. You CAN start this at level 20, but expect a lot of unstables. You'll want to make sure that you abuse any abilities you have if you are starting this at 20 (and especially if you don't have weaving training!). See the abilities section for some useful abilities to have. You can grind on this past 29 if necessary.

If you are having trouble with Undyed Canvas Cloth at 20:

Here are a few bridge synths you can use to get you to a point where you can craft Undyed Canvas reliably. If you look further down in the guide, you'll find that you will be using the Undyed Canvas in future synths, so you should really be making as much as possible.

17 - ?Canvas Fent (21)
Wind Shard (x8)
Undyed Canvas (x1)

20 - ? Canvas Halfgloves (25)
Earth Shard (x5)
Wind Shard (x3)
Undyed Canvas (x1)
Cotton Yarn (x1)

You may be able to get the undyed canvas fairly cheaply in the wards if you actively look for it. Although you should expect to find cotton cheaper than canvas, there are people who skip from Undyed Canvas straight to Undyed Velveteen, so you might catch someone trying to recover gil quickly!

20 - ?Cotton Shirt Back (25)
Earth Shard (x5)
Wind Shard (x3)
Undyed Cotton Cloth (x2)
Cotton Yarn (x1)

If you made quite a bit of cotton cloth and like to get your money's worth out of what you're making, this is the perfect bridge synth for you. Just based on the fact that you should be able to find an easy supply of cotton cloth (without wasting your own cotton thread) makes this a great synth. These vendor for 201 gil, which is what you'll most likely end up doing with them.

Rank 30+

At this point, you need to make a decision: Are you going to get Glovemaking Training or Tailoring Training? Some of you might be forunate and already have glovemaking training from another craft, so you'll obviously get Tailoring Training. So, which should you get? Answer this question and you'll have your answer. Can I afford, or do I have access to, a good supply of Buffalo Leather Strap (Ochre)? If you do, get Tailoring Training and make Canvas Slops until you have exhausted your supply of Undyed Canvas, If you don't, get glovemaking and make Canvas work gloves.

29-35+Canvas Work Gloves (35)
Earth Shard (x5)
Wind Shard (x3)
Cotton Stuffing (x1)
Cotton Yarn (x1)
Undyed Canvas (x2)
*Glovemaking*

29-37+Canvas Slops (37)
Earth Shard (x5)
Wind Shard (x3)
Undyed Canvas (x2)
Cotton Yarn (x1)
Buffalo Leather Strap (Ochre) (x1)
*Tailoring*

34-39+Undyed Velveteen (39)
Earth Shard (x12)
Cotton Yarn (x5)
*Weaving*

Once you are out of Undyed Canvas, you should start into undyed velveteen. You should already having weaving training, so this synth should be miles easier than the Undyed Canvas synth was. You can take this synth well past 39 if you feel the need to but the path to 50 requires you to move away from cotton yarn and onto.....

Rank 40 +

36 - 41+Linen Yarn (41)
Lightning Crystal (x1)
Flax (x2)
*Spinning*

Personally, I didn't start this until 39, but that's because I plan to use velveteen to level leatherworker as well. Anyway! If you want to start this early, feel free to do so, you'll need it all the way to 50, grinding off undyed linen cloth. Flax can be a tad bit on the expensive side but, if you're not harvesting it yourself, be prepared to pay the price!

39 - 44+ Velveteen Tights (44)
Earth Shard (x7)
Wind Shard (x5)
Undyed Velveteen (x2)
Cotton Yarn (x1)
*Tailoring*

If you didn't run Canvas Slops all the way to 37 and switch right to Linen yarn, you should have a healthy supply of undyed velveteen for this synth. Make this until you're comfortable completing the next synth.

39 - 46+Velveteen Shirt Front (46)
Earth Shard (x6)
Wind Shard (x4)
Undyed Velveteen (x2)
Cotton Yarn (x1)

Go ahead and make these to your hearts content, either burning up your velveteen or simply switching when the SP starts to die off on you. Once you've finished with the fronts, you'll move on to the last synth to get to 50!

Undyed Linen (49)
Earth Shard (x14)
Linen Yarn (x3)
*Weaving*

You're here! You're on the last leg to 50. Take your yarn and make it into cloth and then... do nothing with it? There's not really a whole lot to craft with it, so right now, i'd just hold onto it. You never know when square is going to release a new recipe that might need it!

I would like to note that Canvas Hats is a nice bridge synth alternative into velveteen cloth if people can't afford the buffalo leather yet don't feel like using more cotton (ha!) for the gloves. It uses Sheep leather, Undyed Canvas x2, Cotton Yarn, and the crystals are Wind shard x5 Earth shard x3, and is helped with hatting training. So, if you were also leveling leatherworker and got sheep leather left over from making vamps, this is a nice alternative to use up those leathers.
