    XIV Updater kills internet connection

Hello guys! I got a weird problem over here.
I formatted ma computer and installed Windows again.
XIV was installed smoothly with no probs, but the patcher bugs me.
Everytime I start the Updater, it works for around 1-2 minutes with a bandwith of around 180 kb/s and around 21 local clients but after that, the router gets a disconnect and I need to reset it.

    Anyone know a solution?

    add. information:
    - Before the formatting - the updater worked perfectly
    - Also opened the ports that XIV updater uses, didnt change anything
    - I paused Kaspersky once to see if Kaspersky blocks XIV, but didnt work out

    What router are you using?
Would it happen to be a linksys WRT series?

I mentioned the linksys cause the wrt have a know issue with the torrent protocol and run out of memory and lock up cause they don't let go of connections.

I have not heard of this happening with the netgear but it might be something to look into.

Did you have Kaspersky installed before formatting? Last time i tried that AV, it blocked everything even when it was paused.

Can try a public firmware like dd-wrt.
*Disclaimer - I won't take responsibility for a bricked router.

I appreciate every help Ive got so far and thank you all for the solutions!
Unfortunately none of them fixed the issue
but I found an alternate solution via downloading the packets with a torrent-downloader

blocking ffxiv doesnt reset a router , so the problem is the router itself.
Login to your router and check the settings /allowances .
I have had something simular happen , the router set on high security let only so much through at a time and then it blocks.
It was a build in firewall that most routers have " when they feel they get too much info at a time " they think thier build in firewall is bombarded AK attacked and automaticaly block all in and outgoing connection.
Happens to me at times when i download programs on Utorrent , because of the high download speeds my router will shut itself down someties

    Cross,

The information provided by others in this thread is accurate. While FINAL FANTASY XIV seems to be the cause of your lost internet connection, it’s not what’s actually causing the disconnect, especially as you say you have to actually reset your hardware.

As indicated previously, the hardware itself may be failing, or may just not be able to handle the connection types that FINAL FANTASY XIV is requesting through it. This might be resolved by an update to the firmware, or other solutions within the software of the router itself. For this, you would want to contact the hardware manufacturer for further assistance.
