I cannot begin to express the utter garbage that is being implemented now when it comes to purchasing a housing plot. It is killing the player experience and if you continue to use it then you need to change the text of the NPC that explains housing. That NPC describes land purchase as being on a "first come first served basis". You need to change the text to something about it being "based on some random bull$#!+ basis whereby you have to be the lucky person who hits a button at some random time between 30 minutes and 22 hours". I highly suggest keeping the text and changing the invisible lockout timer crap.
Let me share my experience. Once I learned there was land available to purchase, somewhere around level 10, I was excited at the prospect. When I learned there was hoops to jump through, I was ok with that. So you have to save up a ton of money, reach level 50, and be a certain rank in the grand company. Well after months of playing, that time came. I finally acheived level 50. I'm near the end of the ARR story arch. I saved up my money and I was at the highest available rank in my Grand Company.
I also knew land was scarce, and I was ok with that. The NPC told me first come first served, I was ok with that. I FINALLY saw land available....last night (or very early this monring). Not just one. FOUR, in total!! I was excited. All my hard work and preparing was about to pay off. I went to the plots for sale only to eventually learn about this bullcrap invisible lock out timer.
I'm telling you this plain and simple, as an older adult who is a doctor: I have been SO disgusted by this experience that it HAS ruined the game for me. Before this, I was certain about one thing: that I was going to buy all the add-ons and extra story arches for this game and enjoy them. Now? I'm probably just going to play the ones I've already purchased then cancel my membership and be done with this experience. I am THAT enraged by this whole housing experience!!
