Job change will reset abilities right?

One can only assume that when you change jobs all your timers will reset. Just like how it is now when you change to craft and change back all your timers reset.

So now that we know not everyone can set raise, asking people to switch jobs during down time will always result in waiting for timers. This will be really fun when someone has to leave and you ask a BLM to change to PLD and have to wait 15 min for all his abilities to come back. This will be fun when you tell people NOT to craft at all during the re-entry timers on Mog and Ifrit. Umm.. can you please NOT craft, and just stand there so your timers dont reset, thanks. And what about all those people who sometimes shout for reps. Yes I will come let me jsut switch to PLD, and then wait 15 min for timers.

What if you have LS reps waiting outside party for their turn, and they then need to play a job that they were not waiting on. 15 min timer wait, cool. Hey can you please NOT craft while you wait to rep people, cause we dont want to have to wait 15 min after you join the party for your abilites. Can you please farm key stones on your job going to use while you wait, cause again abilites.

I get that yes, you have to make it so abilities reset on job change. If they didnt people would just change to BLM, burn all MP and Convert, get raise to reset hate, then go to a different DD and use its 15 min ability. So I get that it has to be done this way.

But sometimes things happen and people need to leave for reasons, and our LS likes to use people in the shell as reps, rather than shout. But you cant expect people to play on thier jobs 100% of the time. So now, if jobs are going to be needed for content, you cant have people wait 15 min everytime you get a rep. What if the BLM leaves and you cant get a BLM with his abilites up, now you have someone change, then you get a rep as your 8th. You wait for the BLM timers, then someone has to go again. Now you need someone to change, the party gets mad, has to wait again, you try to get a rep, cant find a direct job rep. Wait for timers again, people get sick of standing around, they cant craft while you look for a rep just incase you DO FIND a direct rep with timers up. It seems like this system will create unnessisary down time.

Maybe thats just me since my LS tend to wait to use members from the shell rather than shout. And telling people to not craft of not switch jobs for fear of creating more down time with 15 cooldowns just seems like a hassle. If this is a issue with shout partys and LS reps, and having to ask people to come on the job they want to use, and dont craft while your waiting, or switch jobs, or regardless of how long you wait, if a direct rep is on they get priority.. what a hassle.

I just see unnessisary time sinks like this making jobs just not useful.. and eventually people will just say, Ill jsut go as my class so timers dont reset.

Maybe its just me.... it's probally nothing.

I don't think the 15 minute abilities were meant as a crutch to play the job.

The 7 jobs will have their action bars saved separately, just as the classes do now.

So if the new instance is like DH is now, and there is a safe spot before the mini bosses and boss, you could have all the DD switch to BLM and not suffer timer reset?

So all DD switch to BLM, use thier 15 min spells to pull boss, convert if needed, continue with spell chains, die, get raise, PLD runs in after thier death to hold hate and claim, have hate on them reset to nothing, quick switch to WAR, MNK, DRG, PUG, ARC, MRD or LNC and continue the fight?

Ok.. well I would rather the 15 cool down than that...

And even as it is now, if you switch to craft, then switch back, your cross classed abilites suffer reset.

Even if you do get someone with "their abilities up" its a 1 hit thing, its a nice overpower thats a bit of a boon. if you honestly have to solidly rely on that ability then you and party arent very good.

I think it would be safe to say that SE would not allow you to switch classes to auto reset timers as that could be heavily abused. Most likely the timer will restart for the full count down as soon as you switch to the job.

I know that i shouldn't say it but i think it will be like on XI where the 2hrs share the CD over all jobs, so even if you change jobs and all other skills resets the 2hrs will be still on CD.

Of course this only with the 15min cd skills.

Yeah you are probally right. I dont even know why they added jobs we dont need the new skills. We dont need those abilities, I dont even want to use them really. If I was crafting outside of moogle right up until the re-enter timer was cleared, then switched to BLM, who cares if 4 of my 5 new abilites I could not even use at all in the fight. Moogle is cleared well before 15 min. Cause then after you beat it, your going to switch to crafter again to turn in quest for exp. This might or might not reset skills again, who knows. But your right, they added the skills for you to not need them.

This thread was not even about being able to beat or not beat the content, it was about the fact that if everytime you switch jobs the 15 min abilities are down, whats the point of them? And if switchign jobs DOESNT reset the timer, the exploits will be crazy. I wouldnt be suprised if people switch to BLM, mana burn like crazy, then die and switch to MNK to do hundred fists.

You can die while your party is engaged, get a raise and quickly change jobs. I have used that trick before when CONJ in the party DC. You get like 5 seconds before the game remembers you were in combat.
