are you one of those people who prefer to be in "role" job in story event/scene?

basically what most of my friends doing now, since shadowbringer seems to be on focus with DRK class now they are diligently leveling their DRK.

when i ask why? they simply said "you didnt find it weird when your char look "disconnected" from the story perspective?", i mean iam not exactly into roleplaying but i can see it would be weird when you have this epic cutscene and your char wearing something outrageous like moogle suit, nothing bad from it but yeah i understand what they mean.

are you guys like that too? to play the class that the story focus on? (DRG - heavensward, SAM and MNK - stormblood)

same for me. kind of like in kingdom hearts III sora wears the same outfit unless he changes in combat based on the keyblade. You are you, the wol and when you fight you fight in whatever is suitable to your playstyle.

I just look like me, not specific to a job. This way I feel comfortable doing anything.
Though I suppose I fit in to the Heavensward story a bit better with all the snow.

I watch all the story scenes on my main job. Playing a different job during story quests would feel out of character for me. However, my main actually is DRK and I am looking forward to the ShB story.

Not really but, it kind of ended up happening to me anyway.
I picked up Warrior at some point during 2.1.
I happened to like Dragoon when 3.0 dropped. (Though I ended up playing Bard & Machinist toward the end of Heavensward.)
I wanted to main Samurai in 4.X. (It didn’t work out.)
Now I’m planning to play Dark Knight through the main story quests in Shadowbringers.

I'm not going to level a specific class to play the game as that class, but I do make sure my characters are dressed "sensibly" for the story and location.

For MSQ I'll work out practical traveling clothes that suit the destination - eg. cold-weather gear for Coerthas or lighter clothing for Gyr Abania. (Shadowbringers is looking like "generic fantasy traveler outfit", I think - will possibly use the Ivalician mage tunic from Rabanastre, or go back to using my 'default costume' of the Lv50 summoner coat.)

For other classes that I'm leveling but not playing the main story with, I usually have job-appropriate glamours worked out anyway, but I might switch into relic gear for job quests if it seems appropriate - eg. for the Monk quests where the relic gear is a specific cultural costume and the others in the group are wearing it, although I had a separate unique glamour I'd use when I was just leveling and playing dungeons as that class.

I do that too! Not just for cutscenes but just when travelling or doing dungeons in general. I once caught a glimpse of someone who seemed to take off their shirt before swimming during the early Othardian quests and it honestly made me so happy to see someone else taking the time to do stuff like that. It’s always fun and pulls you into the game more, much better than seeing someone swimming in full Dark Knight armour, using a bird mount underwater or what have you. I even dress my chocobo up in cold weather gear when it suits, or rain gear.

I mean, it does feel weird doing that scene with Lyse for the first time and I was clashing with her as a Summoner. But, really, most of the time, I just stick with whatever was my main at the time based on what I feel comfortable playing: SMN for end of HW and early SB, RDM for mid SB, and SAM currently. I will try Dancer for Shadowbringers with SAM as backup and DRK for tanking.

Bard has kinda felt universal, although it has taken me out of the experience when all our problems could've been solved by taking a shot at the guy talking during a cutscene and not letting him summon his big bad demon
