The split might just have killed this game for me

Dont worry about it the game always slows down before expansions ,
HW was when i started and i thought the same thing before stormblood set it
but the first few days or even couple of months of a expansion is really a fun and interesting experience.

It is really noticeable, even during the "rush hours", roulettes take more time to fill than before. And it really is since the split. Unfortunatly even the events and the free days are not sufficient.

I don't know what it's like on Chaos, but here on Light it's pretty grim.

At Balmung, on a congested server, most of the ppl in cities are afk even during primetime xD. Outside cities its pretty empty, had to solo a few A ranks in Heavensward areas since nobody is around even on Hunt linkshells.

Meanwhile in BDO, they released a "Complete Reroll Ticket" in the cashshop for 160 bucks xD.

FFXIV should take a look at what BDO is doing and maybe try to incorporate some of the stuff in that game. FYI BDO was released on 2016 and already Remastered the game last year and supposedly made over 1 bil dollars in profits. Not only is BDO superior in Graphics, its also superior in gameplay. I only stopped playing it since its too expensive and time consuming lol not to mention addicting.....

Also it didn't actually make $1bn in profit from BDO, that's ridiculous. People don't realize just how big Kakao Corp is. They run a popular messenger, have a taxi service and do a lot of other things. They spent a fortune upgrading BDO as well and made a fortune from P2W microtransactions because korea is nuts over that game. It's the most beautiful game that now operates on P2W mechanics and it's very profitable mostly in Korea. It is doing horribly in North America though.

If FF14 became a cash-shop P2W, most players would leave. This game is doing just fine with its subscription model and P2W will only kill it.

Guess my experience has been different, some things take about the same to queue while few others seem quicker than before. Don't think the PF was lacking prior to the split either, sure it's a little quieter now but to be expected at this point in the expac anyway.

BDO is not better than FFXIV. But neither is FFXIV better than BDO.

A retired player with tons of free time and money will probably enjoy playing BDO more than FFXIV xD.

Everyone else who has school/job or any meaningful RL responsibilities will be better off with FFXIV.

If you get bored with FFXIV, try pairing it with GW2. GW2 and FFXIV are both great games and will not suck all your time and money . Overwatch is fun as well . Mercy is getting a new skin soon.

Everybody seems to be missing the point. Fact is, the EU split has killed our PF, which was already super lacking beforehand. Our original population, for all intents and purposes, has been halved.

Pre expansion burnout/downtime or not, the split has done more damage than any lack of content. I highly doubt it will, but unless Shadowbringers doubles our population we won't even be close to what PF/DF/whatever activity we used to have.

This is my concern for Aether. No one has really replied to me when I ask; How is the split going to affect roulette queues? Just seems to me when you remove half the population you're going to get half the amount of people queuing.

While the split will be good for the expac release, I have to say I feel it might be a little short sighted.
