A Missive from The Noble Council of Onion Knights

Greetings from The Noble Council of Onion Knights!

We are a group of adventurers from across the various worlds and data centers of Final Fantasy XIV who have chosen to spend our time in Hydaelyn taking up the noble mantle of Onion Knight, donning the iconic plumed helmets they are so widely known for.

We have gathered here today for a common cause. With 5.0 on the horizon and its theme being a transition to warriors of darkness, we are requesting that a certain piece of gear be made available once again.

The Peregrine Helm

This black onion helm adorned with stunning crimson plumage was made available during an event in 1.0 where the player could obtain it from an unsavory NPC named Ronan Kognan in exchange for deaspected crystals.

After the calamity, this NPC vanished with nary a trace, his fate unknown, and with him, the much-coveted Peregrine Helm.

However, a ray of hope has been kept alive in our hearts for years, for it turned out that with the advent of "Quick Exploration Ventures" in A Realm Reborn, our faithful retainers had the slimmest of chances of one day returning to us with this fabled item in tow. We've all heard tales of lucky adventurers obtaining one from quick ventures only to toss it away, much to our collective horror.

These adventurers see no inherent value in an item that they will never use. For you see, regrettably, the Peregrine Helm is untradeable and market prohibited, dashing many of our hopes of ever obtaining one. The "Red Onion Helm" on the other hand (also from 1.0 and also obtainable only from quick ventures) is not market prohibited and is sold on the market board fairly frequently.

We are here to request that the Peregrine Helm be made available once again by lifting its status as Market Prohibited/Untradeable so that not only will those lucky few adventurers who stumble upon one see some financial gain from its discovery, but also so that we Onion Knights may have the opportunity to finally own one and wear it proudly into Shadowbringers where its appearance will be truly fitting on the Warrior of Darkness.

Please consider restoring this helmet to its rightful place atop the heads of those who would put it to proper use and celebrate the memory of Final Fantasy's Onion Knight.

my blue onion helm is still one of my favorite helms, looks the best when glam with mythril armor with royal blue dye.
I'll support this.

but I'll one up on you. Why not make our blue onion helm able to be dyed?

I'd personally like to see a green onion helm in the future. In the original Final Fantasy III, Onion Knights came in 3 colors: red, blue, and green. So it would be nice to see that trio represented in-game to pay homage to the job's roots.

But, I'd be perfectly content with just the 3 that exist now.
