How Can Anyone Like Triple Triad?

I started disliking Triple Triad, but the more i played, and the higher my Deck limit rank increased, the more i am enjoying it.

It is obviously not doing to be for everyone, when Gold Saucer 1st launched and we got Triple Triad, it was meant to appeal to the Final Fantasy 8 fans mostly since that is where the mini-game is inspired from.

Seriously. I love how I can be winning by 3 cards, and the AI goes 'I flip one, then make up this combo thing and flip 2 more, which then combos again to flip another one and then I call myself the grand Wizzlewazzle and flip every card you put down in the next 10 games you play against me.'

It really feels like the AI can just make up rules so they can win or draw whenever they want.

The house always wins...

I try and avoid the card and domino game, they make no sense to me.



Concerning the very thing that brought us to The Golden Saucer today, I've just said "sour grapes" after seeing the price of the car.

I love the game but hate the drop rate for most cards. Spending an entire evening on one NPC with hundreds of games and nothing to show for it does not make me feel accomplished. If it wasn't my current pet project to finish the entire card list I'd have abandoned it again by now. Hell I /did/ abandon it back when it first dropped for exactly the same reason. If they gave us a scaling chance to get cards based on our consecutive win ratio I'd think it'd be a lot more fun. Especially for newbies who are already at a card disadvantage.

Rules are easy, the crap where you can't use your best cards because you don't own enough cards is the dumb part.

Never, ever been a fan of card battle games. But I do 10 quick losses to get the challenge log achievement.

The trick to Triple Triad is quitting when you're ahe- Oh, wait, that's Poker!

The trick to Triple Triad is giving up and learning to ignore the icon over all those NPCs' heads.

I love it, but I loved it in VIII as well.

I like TT, especially because of the rules, without them it would just be a glorified tic-tac-toe.

What I don't like is that the AI is so weak that the only way the devs managed to make it challenging is by litteraly having the npc cheat. Using decks with two 5 stars cards and three 4 stars cards while you're stuck with one 5 star and four 3 stars.
I'd rather they give a bigger deck to the npc so you can't really predict what they'll play and that they fix the AI so it doesn't just play cards randomly and hope for the best. With it we could have different lvl npc allowing different decks rules, with something like free mode where both players can use as many 5 stars cards as they want or a rule that require you to use one card of each rank.

That would give us an excuse to use cards we never use.

I kinda enjoy TT, I just wish they would let us use 1 5 star, 1 4 star, and the rest can be 3 stars .... Right now 4 star cards are just useless
