How Can Anyone Like Triple Triad?

Seriously. I love how I can be winning by 3 cards, and the AI goes 'I flip one, then make up this combo thing and flip 2 more, which then combos again to flip another one and then I call myself the grand Wizzlewazzle and flip every card you put down in the next 10 games you play against me.'

It really feels like the AI can just make up rules so they can win or draw whenever they want.

Well I mean they don't "make up" the rules , you can see the rules you're playing to. Though I could see it feeling a bit rough sometimes especially if its not normally your type of game or know what the rule could mean on strategy (some of the rules took me for a ride/I try to avoid them lol).

Here is a site you can reference some rules, and strategies to consider: https://www.ffxivtriad.com/rules

I think it could be helpful to have a sort of gwent/fist fighting quest for triple triad that has you go around in an order of difficulty to help teach players in a natural way, obtain some more cards, and to get them into the game vs being stomped by the game because "wot??". Plus it would encourage people to try it, due to "gotta complete the quest" compulsion and perhaps what it rewards on top of it. Just to add for those new to gwent it was a card game introduced in Witcher 3 - there was a quest to go play against players and they got stronger over time and similar for the fist fighting tournaments (this helped make a progression, encouragement/tracking of what to do, empowering your deck, and tighter tutorial/AI skill control).

Like Mahjong, imo, needs to have fewer round variants (I know it can reduce the balance from randomness, but if it's against AI then it should be fine and saves people time to figure out what to do in smaller bite sized pieces).

sounds like you encountered the "Plus" or "Same" rule. combo whallops will ensue if you're not careful.

Iono man, those rules are part of why I love TT... admittedly when I'm the one ending up flipping the board and not the other way around.

I don't like Triple Triad. It's either just a matter of having the better cards or you are playing with plus and same and then you have to use math.

More often than not you can just win because the other person makes a mistake, rather than winning by your own skill. Especially when it is an NPC with a deck full of 4 and 5 star cards >.>

Also I don't know why the combo system is necessary when you can already flip more than one card over with plus and same alone.

I used to like TT in FF VIII but here it is just a useless waste of time.

    It's a mini-game.

The game is really not that hard outside of BS NPCs that use the Random+Chaos rules. They can burn in hell. When both the rules same and/or plus are active, you need to put some thinking and bait the NPC into leaving spots open that you'll later on use on your favor. Or burn their highest attack cards first.

As a completionist myself, I've had a blast trying to finish my TT card collection over the years.
