That's fair enough. Sorry, I'm just used to pearl clutching when the car and motorcycle are brought up lolthat is the thing everyone but us questions the car yet we do question what a photograph is its a little inconsistent within the collab
also like to point out i didn't mean to bring 'immersion' into it just wanted to highlight the inconsistency that our character acts within the collab story, i'm very much of the opinion if its treated as canon i will treat it as canon if it ain't its for fun :P
Cars are the breaking point for immersion when we have a Magitek empire who invaded us with a fleet of airships--one of which, crashed, remains in Mor Dhona to this day with Middy's corpse giving it a big ol' hug? Bipedal war machina are cool too. But a four wheeled vehicle? Dude, my immersion. Gunblades? Cool. Motorcycles? Dude, my immersion. FFXIV isn't high-fantasy where we only have magic, it's a fairly technologically advanced world.

You do question it. But the car is right there in front of you. Photo is just a word he says at first until he shows you, and still without any explanation of what happened.

actually it makes logical sense, garlemald has magitek, they have airships, tanks, metal gears, flying chimneys, massive flying battleships, all in their military, the regalia doesnt fit the aesthetic of garlemald BUT we do have a (very pertinent to us especially) frame of reference to attribute it to
a camera on the other hand, is something we have never interacted with, and since photography doesnt exist in even a basic sense in eorzea and most of the world and the whole like 3 times weve ever seen anything capable of video playback its presented as either rare allagan tech/mystical tree (which i think still surprised the wol when it happened) or the giant garlean viewscreens in the prima vista, or omega level tech (big honkin crt monitors left to cid to fiddle with while we worried about the world ending), so someone suddenly pulling out their personal phone/camera and taking a picture of us is an act for which we have no initial frame of reference and therefore it would surprise us
itd be like if i pulled out a gun irl that shot lightning itd be an unusual outcome to an expected thing, if i summoned an eldritch horror though thats much scarier even if the horror was named tim and it was a great enchanter![]()

It's called crossover for a reason.
It brings le memories from Eos here...
So, it's nostalgic. Why logic?
Also peeps making a fuss over the car, gawd, if it was as SDS at the Mog the feeling of exclusivity would be more rewarding?
I think people shall enjoy more. A crossover is that, bringing memories of a game into another. Nothing absurd.
I don't really see the problem with the Regalia. Cid himself mentions immediately that it looks similar to Garlean design. It stands to reason that anyone else seeing it would also believe it to be Garlean, or at the very least, another Ironworks invention. Ironworks is pretty damn prolific in Eorzea. They've built airships, repurposed Magitek armors, are practically creating the bleeding edge of Eorzean technology, and so on. What makes any of you think they couldn't create a car? Especially when Cid is given more than enough time to make schematics of the original Regalia while he fixes it.
Like for real, it takes barely any brain power to make Regalia "immersive" in the FFXIV world.
