Because wheeled vehicles already exists. They're just not known by the term "car".
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
Like many things of its ilk, the Regalia is not canon. It's a nod to the players and has no impact into the story of the game. Mounts are just cosmetic goodies layered onto the functional system and are rarely in the story outside of specific plot points.
It's the same "believeability" of NPCs saying they will meet you half way around the world and travel there the long way yet still beat you there while you utilize instantaneous aetherial teleportation (which IS a canon mode of transportation in the lore and this paradox is jokingly referenced in a quest at one point). A camera would kind of fit into the same concept, if you're talking about something for the players with gpose, but there's no system of sort to really rationalize cameras.

The sum of all hunt arguments over early pullers: http://goo.gl/IFT9IE
I kinda agree with the OP.
This (especially since everyone and their grandmother will be obnoxiously driving it EVERYWHERE) severely breaks the immersion. Its stile is completely at odds with the "canon" FF14.
I imagine we'll be seeing a lot more things like that when we go through Garlemald. It's only unfitting the aesthetics we saw so far because we're in "savage" territories.
And like said before, we didn't question the concept of a camera, so much as we didn't know what it was. Garlemald has sensors in their airships, they're able to navigate without there being windows on the bridge (Maxima's ship, for instance). Don't confuse Eorzea being behind technologically with technological advancements not existing in the world at large.
Besides, say what you will, the Mana Cutter is very much canon. The major difference between it and the Regalia is that the Regalia is a hybrid with wheels whereas the Mana Cutter is always hovering.
You also have to consider when you can do this event which is right after 2.0 story has been done where the most technological advanced thing was ultima weapon which was a primal slaying monstrously sized mech, this car is then the next most advanced thing and its purely ironworks creation after cid looks and probably reversed engineered blueprints when working on fixing ffxv's version.
@Malzian ofc many things aren't canon within the contents of the story but within this collaberation's own story a car doesn't make us bat an eye but we have no idea what a photograph is and can actually question it, this is where i see the logic fault :P

We have flying, spinning turtles and the Whisper Go mount. And don't get me started on some of the glamours in this game. They threw immersion out the window a long time ago.
One of the things I think can be pretty exciting is that we only see military Garlean stuff. Take a moment and picture military establishments, especially quickly built ones, in real life.
There is a strong difference between the features and visuals of a military experience (outpost, buildings, vehicles, gear) than there is with the civilian experience. In this I believe we could be seeing some very visually appealing and advance civilian life styles for the deeply technologically advanced civilizations in our game. With the battleships Garlean's have, like the one that destroyed the silvertear lake, there is no way we don't have cameras in Eorzea except unless SE just wants to because they can (like Fallout games are both advanced and "old" style).
Well everyone was confused by the Regalia. They knew it was a type of machine just not one they've ever seen before. Photography as far as we know does not exist on Eorzea. The Regalia is strange but familiar. The concept of a photo is unknown.
Cars are the breaking point for immersion when we have a Magitek empire who invaded us with a fleet of airships--one of which, crashed, remains in Mor Dhona to this day with Middy's corpse giving it a big ol' hug? Bipedal war machina are cool too. But a four wheeled vehicle? Dude, my immersion. Gunblades? Cool. Motorcycles? Dude, my immersion. FFXIV isn't high-fantasy where we only have magic, it's a fairly technologically advanced world.
