    Messenger Of The Winds

I just recently came back to FF, I had originally played for 6 months in 2017-2018 then left, then just came back a couple weeks ago. I have never played any other FF games so I had no idea what to do with this warp strike we are supposed to use in the solo instance.
I watched a couple of youtube videos that have been put out and there are several things I don't understand. In one the player kept warping to the boulder to gain distance from Garuda, but every time I've tried doing that I take damage. In another video the player rarely used warp strike on Garuda using her bard skills yet she managed to beat the duty. Are we ONLY supposed to use warp strike or mix up with our main skills, and if we warp to the monolith are we supposed to be taking damage ?

Actually I just now found out that after going through all this headache of doing this solo instance and still haven't beaten it that we STILL have to pay 200,000 mgp to get the car. I wish I had known about all this before I even started the quest line as I wouldn't have started it. Well maybe in a year or so the clothes will be on the mog station because I give up ! I play these games to have fun, I definitely am NOT having fun right now !

So you need to warp to the opposite pillar that Noctis is using. I had the same problem until I figured that out.

Also, it does suck about the car and hairstyles being in the Saucer, but just do the fashion report thing weekly and you will have enough to buy them all, you get like 80,000 mgp each week if you use the correct items. You can find the list of items you need on Reddit usually.

When Garuda does the big big aoe warp strik to the farthest pillar out, then warp strike back in on Garuda with noctis for a link strike which is just bonus damage.
Warp strike in this is pretty much mobility used to warp out of AOES and back into the fight.

So the damage from warp strike is fairly significant. It hits harder the farther you warp, and if you time it with Noctis for successful "Link Strikes" it gets a big bonus. My level 50 rotation as a BLM has me regularly hitting in the roughly 1500-2000 range(sometimes higher). A cross-arena link strike was doing more like 10k(around 2500-3000 from me and noctis with a 4kish bonus). So you probly can get away with just occasionally hitting her with regular attacks and focusing on nailing the timing of those warps. I was keeping the far monolith on focus target to keep quick target changes easier. Most of her attacks were missing. She has one "super" she does where she sucks you into the center repeatedly. The key to that one is to track her cast bar and teleport out right at the end. I think it hits for significantly less if you get away at the right timing. But im going to confess. That isnt how i won. I failed a couple times because the timing on that last move was tricking me. I considered switching to a tougher class to cheese the attack, but i won on my third try. I might have won because i got the timing right(that last time i took like 1/3 the damage i had previously taken), but i noticed at the end of the fight that i had an echo buff going. So i might have just accidently failed my way into winning. Failing your way to a buff to make a solo instance easier is a strategy that has worked for many people in many different instances.

And as others have mentioned, 200k seems like a lot but it really isnt. You could honestly make that in a week while still participating in other aspects of the game. Considering the event goes until may 27 you dont even have to try hard to get there. But for reference, the challenge log(which, if you havent unlocked you should go do immediately) has more then 85k worth of bonus MGP available every week for participating in saucer content. Actually doing the content to get all those bonuses would pay out roughly 30k more. That also doesnt count fashion report(10k just for talking to rose, 50k more if you score 80 points - requires 1 correct item and a couple dyes or 2 correct items). And it isnt counting any tournaments either. Triad has one every other week, and just signing up nets you like 1k(play an NPC for all your matches and get it over with in 10 minutes, come back in a week and collect a few thousand MGP plus a card or two to sell for more). Verminion has one roughly every week(on for 3 or 4 days, off for as long, repeating), and typically signing up and playing one match(NPC is fine) is enough to get you 20-30k. Oh, and NONE of that is counting jumbo or mini cactpot(jumbo is 450 invested for 3k+ return weekly with a chance to win a million, mini is 30 a day invested with payouts ranging from just over 100 to 30k depending on luck and skill). Add all that up? You could come out with enough MGP to purchase everything for the event in a week without winning cactpot. Or you could just do the 5 min fashion report 4 times over the next 6 weeks and get 240k that way. I know not everyone likes the reddit, but one of their users posted a decent guide about all this if you want a visual(and she also does a weekly report on how to win the fashion report). If you want, follow this link to see.

You don't need to go to the opposite side of Noctis. Microburst is proximity based damage regardless, and it ignores knockback nullify abilities.

Ive heard several people talking about grinding out the 200k in a day(clear challenge log, play many mini games, etc). Again, the easiest path(least time and effort) would be doing the fashion report. Pays out 60k in total MGP if you can get a score of 80 or higher(theres a title if you get 100). Takes around 5 minutes most weeks(find answer, equip needed items, go talk to rose, get paid). This weeks contest went live about 2 hours ago(as of my typing this) and one 60k solution(there are several easy ones this week, depending on how deep your closet is) involves buying 2 cheap items from an NPC vendor(flourite earing and black pearl ring). So spending 2 mins in ul dah buying those from the Eshtaime's Aesthetics shop(avoid the market board, there are people who will buy them from the npc and relist them for 10-100 times his price because they know some are too lazy or ignorant to go get them at cost - dont give those relisters your money), and a couple mins in the saucer putting them on and getting judged by rose* would get you 1/4 of the way to your regalia.

    * Note, fashion report scores all your clothing slots. You get a set number of points for each "ungraded" slot, and varying points for the "graded" ones based on how closely they match what he was going for. So put on the selected items in the correct slots and just wear anything in all the other slots.

Edit: Ok, i remembered wrong about Eshtaimes selling the black pearl ring. Its crafted/market only. However, the flourite ear with just anything equipped in the other slots scores 79 points this week. You can get the last point you need by wearing gloves or shoes dyed to any black color, or a weapon hat shirt or pants dyed to any red color(any black is +1 point for shoes/gloves this week, any red is +1 for the other slots - the +2 dyes for this week are soot black and wine red for anyone trying for the 100). So i guess an extra minute this week because youre stopping at 2 shops for both the ear and a red dye.
