Not to white-knight or flame anyone here, but it seems a tad early to be making assertions such as "bard will be the only dd anyone wants because its the only dd that can get raise" (among others, that's just the most vivid example I remember). While at first, I too had a sour taste in my mouth that each job would only get 5 cross-class abilities, and would be restricted further by only being able to use abilities from two classes, rather than all.

While this does seem restrictive at first, lets take a quick look at one example (yes, this may not carry over to all jobs). My plan for my gladiator cross-class abilities has Provoke, Bloodbath, Cure, Raise, and Sacred Prism. These are the only five abilities I had chosen from CNJ and MRD, and I will be able to keep them. All that is happening, is that I will be trading the other abilities for more tank-specific type abilities.

I hear the complaint that only 3 jobs will get raise, but the point of jobs is that roles are more rigidly defined. Yes, most of us are used to things like a BLM being able to have some light cures available to them to support when needed; it's clear here, however, that the idea is not to use the cross-class abilities to broaden your role, but to augment it slightly (in the case of BLM you may choose some more defensive/stalling abilities, for instance).

All that being said, whether you agree with me or not, everyone should consider two key points to the job update;
  1. Patch 1.21 is the introduction of jobs. It would be childish to presume things will not change, particularly if players desire specific changes.
  2. We are losing absolutely nothing here. If jobs are completely broken and useless, nobody says we have to use them. If for some reason losing elements and cures going from THM to BLM severly hinders or limits you, then it could be said "BLM is broken - just use THM"

Just my thoughts.
