    Well, we'll see won't we.

To me, it just seems like a case of finding it difficult to let go of the safety blanket of being able to cross-class everything provides.

I for sure wouldn't ever give up AMs, Convert, and BLM AF just so I can equip Raise.

Like I said, if 4 raises in five minutes ain't enough, something's wrong with the party - and it isn't the number or raises lol.

Sometimes, things can go bad. Doesn't mean the party sucks, it means mistakes can happen. Maybe a party member disconected during the fight. Maybe Ifrit went on a sudden killing spree. Maybe King Moogle Mog the Twelfth got a lucky Pom Flare. And heck, sometimes the party *does* suck, but can still get back to it's feet with multiple raises.

Not saying this will happen every time, not saying classes are better than jobs, not saying AF is not awesome, I'm just using an example where, yes, being in a class is better (IE: having more defensive / healing abilities).

So let's always use classes for content, so just in case the game breaks, everything glitches, and basically all hell breaks loose we can attempt to make use of 4 extra raises and recover from it. Let's give up all the benefits of jobs to make sure we've got a better safety net for the inconceivable.

Because, as we all know, when shit goes so horribly wrong and we wipe, we can't just go back in and try again.

Damn, I'm not saying that. In fact, I too will hardly use classes at all after getting the job. I'm just trying to tell you that sometimes, due to certain circustances, it MAY be useful for a few party members to still use a class, be it for a certain strategy or whatever, and that is not "against the design" as you claim. Then, I provided one single example to illustrate my point. That's all.

I'm not saying Jobs are useless, that everyone should use classes, Job-using sheeps should be kicked from parties, or anything of the sort.

Also, the fact that they are going to add class specific gear is a good indication that not only this isn't "against the design", but that the developers themselfs are considering that possibility.
