Offhand Gathering Grade 5

Anyone else got the problem when gathering at Grade 5 with your Offhandtool you gain so many Colours what makes it a pain to the ass, to get at least a decent amount of stuff you really need.

For example Laurel leaves or Sagolii leaves i ended up with

140 Blue = 140 Gatheres
50 Cloves = ~15 Gathers (mostly got 4 per attempt)
45 Laurel = ~ 12 Gathers
130 Moko Grass = ~ 30 Gathers (mostly 4 or 5 per attempt)

at least a little bit slower rate of colours dropping would be nice, cause no one needs soo many Paint cause you aint get SP for dying cloth.

Anyone else got this or am i just unlucky?

Hello there from Nine Ivies! I'm currently Getting Giggy with it. I haven't been counting my attempts and successes so I can't say for sure if I'm getting too much paint, but I do have 2.5 stacks of Purple Dye.

Last week i wanted to lvl up my weaver. I needed Cotton Bolls to turn into Yarn. So I decided to equip my scythe and knock out the harvesting achievement in thanalan at the same time as farming my bolls. I completed Grade 1, 2, 3, 4 and 182/500 for Grade 5 Harvesting Thanalan.

Unfortuneately I cannot tell you the total of other items i got, but out of approx 520 harvests, I accumulated 170 Grey Dyes. That's 33%. Also, I noticed the higher grades had a higher % yield rate, especially grade 5 /fume. By the time I finish Grade 5 I'm afraid I will have 3 stacks of worthless Grey Dye:

It wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that Dye are pure vanity play now and the price has dropped from 20K a piece to 300gil a piece. Not to mention no one really buys more than a few at a time so selling 300 dyes on the wards would require me to undercut everyone, and where is the fun in that?

4 months ago 1 grey dye used to cost the price of what I can buy 99 for today.

Well, its okay if gils what you're after... but I'm after seals and the GC is asking for box turtles, not dye. =/

According to disciplesoftheland.com, you can get box turtles through main-hand fishing.

Edit: I realize the wards may be devoid of turtles. Replace turtles with some other item the GC is asking for. I'm not saying it shouldn't be changed to give less dye, but I'm sure not complaining how it is right now. Money money money moooooooooney~♪

Don't you think the shortage of turtles might be related to the issue with the imbalanced gathering results? And putting so much dye on the market so that it sells in time to turn the gil into turtles would likely mean some serious undercutting. And that would mean I'd get less gil to turn into turtles.***

Meaning either way, I don't get much seals.

I'm pretty sure there's a shortage of turtles because Fishers have no reason to spearfish. Did they remove the ability to get them while fishing? I am not a fisher, but I thought you used to be able to fish them up in... Horizon? I could be completely wrong.

I understand where you're coming from, and I'm fine with a reduction in dyes if SE decided that's for the best, but I also like the idea of certain materials being rare.

as it is on Lindblum there is no Money in Colours cause there are soo many in the wards due to this there are so many Gatherers and all seem to have the same horrible Colour yield and the time it takes to sell 140 Colours is just not worth effort, have been undercutting the prise now for 6 Days ended up now with 700 Gil / Colour and only sold 4 Pieces xD

So maybe you are lucky and there are not many Gatherer on your server so you can sell them @ a decent rate.
