Unfortunately it seems I am unable to find the source of this info. However, that's how the Mithra were in FFXI.

She does have wrinkles not seen on other miqote though, so she shows some age :P same with M'naago's moon kitty mother.

    Indeed !

After reading everything thought, maybe they were talking about padjals and not the miqo'tes ? It is true that padjals remain young (E-Sumi-Yan does mention in the DRK quests that he is 'twice Sidurgu's age at least' and in the Encyclopedia, it is mentioned that he is over 100 years old because he stopped counting after that).

Interesting, I didn't know that! This would explain why they're the only race without an old variant (even Lalafell got one XD)

It might also explain why F'lhammin and Mango's mum wear glasses. It's probably a way to make them look more mature in lieu of any obvious ageing signs.

...or maybe Miqo'te eyes are just prone to going bad as they age? Maybe deteriorating eyesight is something inherent to the Miqo'te genome? J'khebica in the goldsmith story could be having that condition occur prematurely. Oh gosh... all the pieces are falling into place!

    DUN DUN DUNNNN!

Yet, the one male face with facial hair is that of a wrinkled old man...

If I'm not wrong, that face was used by both of the Nuhns we've encountered in game. So maybe they're not actually old, just really really really... tired? n_~

For a good example of someone who looks way older than he is (and it's probably stress-induced): YoshiP

I think we're supposed to assume that all races age at a human-like rate, unless it's specifically stated that they do not.

There's nothing in the lorebook page on Miqo'te to indicate this.

Unless it's supported elsewhere, the idea may come from Y'shtola's profile, which doesn't give her actual age but just describes it as "the hands of time ever stopped on twenty and three" - however, I've seen this brought up elsewhere that it's some kind of Sharlayan enchantment that simply makes her appear younger than she actually is. (And likewise being used by the other Scions - eg. possibly why 32-year-old Thancred suddenly looks older after losing the ability to use magic. Though of course there are other factors there.)

According to her profile, she's only 37.

Something like that. 10%-20% is a good estimate. (eg. Edmont, who is 59 but probably looks more like 50.)

Not sure about that with Kan-E. I think she's just using makeup to look older.

She shouldn't need to be concerned about looking like an adult to be taken seriously among the leaders, when there's a Lalafell in the group. Though it might make more sense for dealing with other people in Gridania, where Lalafells are uncommon - but then on the other hand, Padjals are more familiar and highly respected.

I double-checked - yes they do both use that face. So does X'rhun Tia from the red mage quests. (U'odh Nunh is 43; X'rhun would be around that age but I don't have the second lorebook for his profile or M'rahz.)

I think it makes sense that older, more battle-experienced males are able to hold their position and not get pushed out by someone young and fiery, but inexperienced (see: M'zhet Tia). It's a matter of skill in battle, not raw physical strength.

That's pretty darn interesting about Miqo'te appearance, and Sharlayan culture.

At least with miqo'te you have F'lhaminn, who's almost 40, she still comes off as being fairly young looking. And for Au Ra you have Cirina's grandmother, though I don't know how old she is, possibly between 60 and 80.

The game has a problem with showing age I mean even the npcs go from everyone looking in their 20s to they look 40ish to they might be in their 70s to holy crap old like the Archbishop. Then look at the incoming Viera who stay looking like they're 20 till they're 200. Unless it's children that aren't in their teens then there's kind of some range?
