You get access to the same abilities, only you're restricted to 2 specific classes depending on the Job. You get to import half as many of these as you would be able to with a base class. So it's basically:
CLASS:
• Access to some abilities from each class, up to 10 at Level 50
• No extra abilities
JOB:
• Access to some abilities from only 2 specific classes, up to 5 at Level 50
• 5 extra job-specific ability
Either way, as a level 50 player you get 10 abilities on top of what your base class can use. Using the job or not basically boils down to this:
• Favour powerful role-focused abilities and abandon some other useful abilities (ideal for party play)
• Favour versatility and freedom of choice and abandon powerful role-specific abilities (ideal for solo play)
They've been clear about this from the start: Jobs are not meant to overpower the base classes, they're meant to specialize them.
Job =/= Über-Class
