    Job System

    New update on the lodestone...
There doesn't seem to be anything here we're not already aware of.
Except maybe the Level 15 second class being needed ... i did not know of that.

You mean besides the confirmation of what cross class abilities are usable by which job? If you ask me, that is an incredibly important piece of information that we had been lacking a response on.

Hmm so if I understand it correctly: It's not just that you get only 5 cross abilities, but you can only get them from two specific classes. So for example the only classes that would be able to use Raise (or Cure) would be Paladin, White Mage and Bard. The only classes that can use Invigorate are Dragoon and Monk etc.

This is really disturbing. For example for dungeons/endgame: Why would we want to bring a Dragoon or Monk or Marauder as damage dealers if the can't even offer the slightest support to the group. Everyone would bring Bards as damage dealers just for that reason, besides the fact that everyone is already bringing Archers now because of the easy damage they do and minor damage they take.

Job stats will be different than the Class stats. Perhaps Bard has less attack than archer and the other DDs will most likely have more attack than their Class.

The increased abilities of WHM would mean that you are meant to rely on them for support since they will be able to hold the lion's share of it, with bard for backup, so the DDs will be able to focus on DD'ing. It's the whole point of the Job system to specialize while boosting the character's abilities.

    Good Point! Difficult to balance.

Having a regen spell will be a big fix towards making melee less heal dependent. As will the PLD's ability hopefully. This takes care of the damage taken issue.

All of the melee DD (WAR/MNK/DRG) are getting several new abilities which will increase their damage. Bard is getting songs which will buff the party and be very useful, but will have to come at the cost of at least some of their damage (as Archer is all about efficiently spamming damage abilities at the moment to obtain high DPS). That takes care of that issue.

Of course it will still be hard to balance, and they could mess it up. But they obviously at least thought of your concern and have addressed it with the abilities jobs are getting.

Same goes for BLM, why bring them? They got no party support abilities, no backup cure, raise or buff, hell they don't even get access to few of the elements (wind and stone).
But yeah Hawk's Eye and Blindside will be very helpfull for any aspiring melee mage xD

While this post only fleshed out alot of the basic information that we had already received the real juicy details i.e. Job Quests, Jse Armour ect. probably won't be released until the patch notes. What this patch told me was SE put a great deal of thought into what they wanted the Job system to do and how it would work. The combination of Classes for the actual job better reflect what we imagine those Jobs to be. As the post stated the unlocking combos are just to expose the player to to the various aspects of the Armory System. I have no problem with that. The only thing that appears different from what I read before is the fact that Exp earned while in the job will be applied to the base Class. I was under the impression, previously, that Jobs would not earn Exp and had to be delevoped from the Class. Good change. There is enough information here to give me great hope for the Job concept. We will see.

^ Pick this up today, it may help you understand how jobs have specific roles in parties. Should make the transition into 1.21 easier for you.

This is the basic FFXI party concept carried over, Tanks tank, DDs destroy, Support support. Depending on how quests and raids are constructed this may froce SE to go to a 2 party Alliance concept.
