Barracks Recruits: Are some better than others?

So I got into the whole barracks squadron thing just recently, and noticed that by completing entries on the challenge log you got new recruits you could choose from. Tried searching online about this and found nothing but question.

Since you can change the class of any recruit you already have, is there any benefit to adding certain new recruits other than they look different? Don't want to miss out on a good recruit if I have one come my way.

Thanks! That's a relief. Thought I'd have to keep recruiting until I found the best ones. I'll toss out one's whose looks I don't like now lol.

Pick the ones you find visually appealing. If their stats don't meet your needs, you can always change their classes.

The main appeal from what i've experienced along with others is that it's mostly cosmetic, and by that i mean very rarely you'll get some crazy-looking recruits dressed in either really stylish, or bizarre outfits.

Or sometimes nothing at all! XD

As others have said, they're purely cosmetic at this point.

As you rank up further in your GC you'll be able to buy the books that allow you to change their classes with GC seals at your Grand Company. You'll also be able to change their outfits once they get to a certain level. Can't remember if it's 50 or 60.

At which point there is only one real option...

One thing that may matter to you though is that you can't change (iirc) their race, since chemistry (special effects can relate to a race). You can of course dismiss and get new mates though, or dismiss the chemistry if it isn't a combo/type you prefer.

Statwise, there is no difference.

But some of them are Miqo'tes, some are not.
