Really wish..

There was a 2 handed melee dps spec, namely one that can use 2 handed swords. All the cool 2 handed weapon archetypes are tanks (warrior,dk). I know there is dragoon with polearms but I would love having a melee dps job with big two handed weapons.

Would be nice if jobs had the ability to fill more then one role and could switch between specialization within the job itself, vs strictly switching jobs. An example would be having warriors that could specialize as dps or tanking and give the player the option to switch between both roles (aka similar to specs in other mmos)

When I think of final fantasy the first thing that comes to mind is cloud, find it odd there is no job in the game that has his iconic weapons and move sets.

DRK uses Cloud-based animations (Souleater *is* Climhazzard, for instance). So there's nothing to find odd regarding that.

As far as a DPS that two hands a sword, SAM uses katanas with two hands.

Fair enough. Still, I would say specs aren't especially necessary in a game where you can play every job on a singular character.

Just to be clear I am less fixated on wanting a job to be a cloud clone in terms of kit, even though that would be cool.

The point still stands that there are no dps jobs that use big two handed heavy weapons (I.e., 2 handed axes or sword or mace) . Sam to me despite using a katana and (STR) to me is still an agility archetype of dps. Samurais usually attack swiftly, precisely and quickly with light to medium armor to be mobile.

I am looking for a true “warrior” or “berserker” archetype for a job that can do damage. Heck I would be happy if warriors were designed to be either dps or tanks. Though there is just so much room to make a really cool dps job that uses a cloud type weapon or a giant over sized great-sword. Almost every mmo conceivable has a class that fills this archetype usually designed around huge demoralizing burst attacks. Not sure how it would work in ffxiv but clouds charge based attacks would be sweet.

Actually Warrior plays like a DD in endgame... it just wears a blu icon. : /


Its based on STR, uses heavy weapons, berserk, avoids tank stance in generell and provides on of the strongest burst out of all melees - there u go...

Reach 70 on Warrior and it's actually all you are looking for right now...

I have been wanting this since day 1. Funny story. When I started playing ARR during early access I actually thought warrior WAS a dps. Queued up in a dungeon as warrior and people kept saying "Go tank" and I'm like "yeah, what the hell is the tank doing" and they are like "what are you talking about?". Ahhhh good times, lol. I also want a class that uses big a$$ weapons and wears heavy armor. I'd be happy with a massive mace at this point.

Don't forget, that similar to the swords and daggers PLDs and NINs use, katana is both a classification and a universal term. There is a DRK katana weapon, though you'd wanna call it a Nodachi first, but saying it's a katana is not wrong.

Dont forget Katana literally means sword. Well is one of the words that means sword, the other being Ken. The distinction being either single edged or double edged.
