That guide is years out of date. The current desynth cap is 380.
every item that is desynthable now has a number value attached to it. just follow the numbers.
Having the desynth numbers on item tooltips is great when you're just trying to level it and don't care what resulting items you get, but the guide linked above also had good info on things like how best to get particular Demimateria types (as well as some general info on how desynth works, which I believe is all still valid). I haven't seen a more up to date guide regarding how to get particular results in the higher tiers.
unless you're creating older furniture items or weapons that use BC demimateria - desynth is more of a free mats kind of thing now. the most recent profitable item that was added to desynth was shinryu scales from shinryu ex weapons, or that one big fish in yanxia that desynths into the 340 crafter chest piece. after that most of the time desynthing higher level items results in basic materials (nuggets/leather/ingots etc), clear demimateria, or BCIII. Kind of removes the incentive to level desynthing at all really. Basically right now desynth is good to level to get easy materials to sell from desynthing vendor items from the new expansion coming up.
You level desynth because it's there
Burried in the desynthing thread is a lot of info about what to desynth past 180.
It is quite a wade through.
