    Rotations

Between Tera, XIV and WoW which game do you think is harder and expects more out of yu as far as rotations go? I never played WoW as I'm only on console, but I have played Tera years ago when I did have a gaming PC. ( it blew up as Tera was too much for it. Yes it was a VERY low grade PC so yeah Tera killed it. ) So I can only compare Tera to XIV and while yes they both sport VERY different combat styles I think XIV is harder rotation wise. It just feels like XIV expects you to do WAY more then Tera did. I played Mystic, Priest, Warrior and Slayer on Tera and all of them felt pretty easy compared to Monk, Warrior, PLD, SCH, WHM, and now DRG on XIV. But I wanna know how WoW's Rotations stack up to XIV's.

Anyone with experience on these games that wanna shed some light on my question? Please and thankyou?

WoW these days is pretty dumb.

Last time I played it I basically just mashed my hand on keys 1-5 and did top DPS. They've been simplifying everything for so long that "Rotations" are simply a priority based on CD's. It's actually possible to set up 1 button macros to do the rotations for you.

There was occasionally a spec that was difficult to play (Or literally impossible to play perfectly for humans...) usually something like Feral Druid but they were few and far between.

XIV is pretty simple for most jobs. Especially melee jobs which are focused around just doing a 123 combo or two (Though MNK can be a bit trickier than most due to needing to get the positionals right for maximum DPS as well as utilizing Tornado Kick as a DPS gain)

Tera is a similar kind of priority rotation as WoW, but with more variance, more skills to use and less ability to just macro everything to 1 button.

I'd probably put Tera as the most difficult rotations, but they're not particularly hard.

Then maybe XIV? Hard to say really, since rotations in this game are pretty easy. Like the only "Difficulty" comes from clunkiness, such as NIN with Mudra lag, or MCH with heavy ping reliance due to the timings for their burst window, BLU with it's oGCD skills having cast times so they clip GCD's horribly...

With WoW being easiest because if anything actually makes you require a brain in that game it gets nerfed so you don't realize you're playing a pile of crap...

In wow you got your priority based rotations, which is pretty simple when you know the priority.
In ffxiv you've got your cyclical rotations, which is also simple, but in a different way
Then in Tera, i've never gotten to max level in Tera, but from what i did play it wasn't all that hard, either.

MMOs of today are focusing more on making the encounters more mechanically difficult, rather than the classes. Not everyone is on board with that.

WoW is definitely the least complex at this point. Most specs use a basic builder/spender setup, either a resource or combo points, with a basic 1-2-3-4 + big cooldown rotation, and one or two reset procs. I haven't played Tera in ages, so I can't comment on it as it is now.

depends on your job. Tera i will say, is not a perfect comparison, at least back when i played, timing/animation time/positioning was way more important, so they could have less complicated rotations, while still being more difficult to execute well.

If you look for complexity of rotations, WoW and XIV are on the extremely easy side these days. The most complex things to me came from GW2 where rotations easely can have a unique rotation that is 50+ steps deeps.

WoW is miles easier in general.

I used to be a keyboard turning clicker in WoW and churn out high dps no problem, but I had to up my game a fair bit to get anywhere decent in ff14. Even now I'm only average and haven't gone beyond EX. FF14 can be quite deceptive, you'll think you're doing "fine" because you didn't die and in reality you're only pushing 60% of your potential, while in WoW you're probably actually doing fine.

I ask that question mostly as we like to talk about diffcultly right? Or the lack thereof depending on who you talk too. But I talked to a few people who mention how wow is way easier on rotations and xpectations vs XIV. Tho on the flip side I'm not talking about hard content as I think Tera and XIV are hard on different levels. Tera isn't as mechy as XIV but Tera expects WAY different things. You need to pretty much play like it's poor's mans Devil May Cry whereas XIV is like we're gonna throw all the aoes at you, make you DDR and ask you to preform your rotation perfectly for max damage. This also came up as I was listening to FFXIVmomo podcast where he had a wow raider on stream and he mentioned the differences in rotations between the two and wanted to know if people in our game agreed. Tho I'm seeing everone who has answered thinks it's on the easy side or equal to WoW. Interesting.

All I have to say is if it's such an easy rotation than I dunno why are most people not even coming close to thier max potential? I include myself in this of course.

Tera's Valkyrie class had the easiest rotations ever, one button preset rotations, but the most humiliating female designs and outfits too...rip. FFXIV can get tedious in tougher dungeons due to its casting timers, action holds and conditional percentages for rotations, and buff accessibility conditions for which you have to be spot on or you miss it.

Tera is set up the best for control, evasion and using ones powers under fast paced battles....but they force you to look like Jessica Rabbit and dress like the new bunny race upcoming here. For me, I'm willing to fumble with a bunch of buttons and get attitude from tanks and bards,in order to have a game that specialized in music and aesthetics. FF is a world I would wish to live in.
