Suggestion - Add a Tackle Box for Fishers

I'm sure this has been requested a dozenty hundred times, but thought it might be time to suggest again.

What I would really love to see for Shadowbringers is the addition of the Tackle Box for Fishers - a container to house various bait inside.

My suggestion for a middle ground means of implementing it - turn the spearfishing item into a Key Item and add a passive GP buff to offset the GP loss of the item.... or turn Spearfishing into a buff alone upon unlock and no item given or used.

Instead, use the secondary for the Tackle Box. This secondary could house more and more bait as the levels increase, along with keeping pace with the other two gatherer jobs due to their having secondaries already.

Right this moment, I have 55 different baits in my character's inventory. Sure that's way more than normal, but I am actively working towards the blessed rod, so I am all over the place going for the rarer fish - some of which take very particular bait and timing.

I use the chocobo saddle bag as my tackle box.

Hmm, I think that would reduce the amount of memory required for sure*. Wonder if it'd have a substantial impact on any gil sinks.

Also I would add you could include the Tackle Box with the Spearfishing Gig, such that they come together. In this way there could also be some more spears too, only that they also gain a box alongside that is also level appropriate (low level Spearfishing Gig now = low level Spearfishing Gig + low level tackle-box). Consider it like how Ninja have two daggers in one slot (it's one item I mean). Can maybe revive some of those 1.0 models :3.

Perhaps they could introduce new special fisher "materia" that crafting jobs and some NPC could sell. It'd increase stats as one would expect on gathering jobs but also increase the "ilvl" of your tackle box, meaning the lost gil from crafters could be subsidized in that change.

I was thinking before on similar lines of making it more memory efficient, although less so than the above I think lol, in that you research bait by gutting fishes in zones. Such that you can get bait from fishing and spearfishing in areas and gutting said fish (encouraging fishers to run around different areas to unlock new baits).

*Edit: Might have misunderstood the secondary slot idea you posted. I took it as level 50 tackle box would come with X bait, and a level 60 having an improved selection. If you meant as another type of saddle bag then obviously that'd not reduce memory lol. Not against that type of idea but I just imagine if we could make the system less intensive it might be easier to sell to SE.

I would rather they give us more inventory that we can use as we want then fragment our inventory into limited slots/bags like wow tends to do
Agreed I am not a real Fisher but you hardly need all those different baits. Most fish can be cought with a limited number of them. Just maybe slightly less efficient

I think the OP was avoiding what you said by creating a compromise between the original tackle box threads long ago and this which is not limited slots/bags.

Unless I misunderstood OP, which is possible. So one of us needs clarification now haha.

I thought item that has X baits based on level. Higher level tackleboxes have more baits. Which would be very memory efficient. Level 50 item has all the baits of a level 40 item plus a few more. 55 item slots = 1 item slot now.

You're thinking tacklebox has slots to be filled, right? (Like WoW bags as you said).

OP, which was it meant to be?

Half of my inventory is taken up by fishing bait because I fish pretty frequently. I would love to see something like this in 5.0.

SE has shown us that they really only have one way to store items. The way we see in inventory, retainers and chocobo bags.
They may be able to do something like with the glamour dresser but with the limitations that has on taking things out I am not sure the system would work for tackle.
Perhaps it's better to do away with the items altogether and just give you the ability to select from all the possible baits and you would never run out?
Or just remove the vast majority of the baits/lures till you the amount is manageable.

Pretty sure chocobo saddle bag was their way of saying, "here's your tackle box". And they were even cool enough to not make it exclusive to bait. You can throw anything in there; even maps, allowing you more attempts without having to go back to your retainers to pick up more.

Maybe bait could be treated like currency instead. The tacklebox window would be like a currency window, and when you add bait to it you can't take it out, only use it.

So, this may be crazy - but why not just do an entire overhaul of the bait/tackle options and give 1 live bait, 1 lure, and your spearheads (which are OK already). Ensuring you have the right bait on you for any given hole isn't exactly difficult or exciting and is quite often a "set and forget" type move. Neither mining nor botany suffer with needing to bring additional tools to do their job - this would make fishing a bit more even with the other two.
