    Arena?

    Not sure if it's been mentioned before (probably has, but digging through all the GS posts...nah), but has there been any mention or idea of the GS getting an arena in the same vein as FF7?

    1 on 1 fight, each progressive fight gets another status effect, increasing MGP rewards per win - betting on going another round, or cashing out like the Out on a Limb minigame, etc.

    Yeah, it would have to be an instanced duty, but if they were able to fix Raid Boss Pipin, I'd think they could handle this.

    Problem is, how do you balance 1-on-1 for all jobs? Can't just be that we'd fight more overworld trash, because what's the point? Boss FATEs can already prove more daunting for some jobs than others.

    Plus it kinda seems like the end result could easily end up being too similar to the Masked Carnival.

    Probably have it start out really easy and slowly ramp up. The whole daunting thing would be the point: gambling on if you can keep rolling or not.

    I think there would have to be an outright difficulty cap because Gold Saucer is as casual as you can get. Nothing there really requires skill beyond majhong and everything else is luck and knowing how to jump. I like the idea, but it isn't a single player game so the skill associated with the place has to be streamlined.

    There's no way they could make this work (and be both challenging and fun) letting us use our real abilities.
    I could see it working using the 'roleplaying' feature, like the recent Hien, Y'shtola or Alphinaud battles, where the person we're controlling has fixed stats or moves.
    Or what I'd kill for - make it a turn-based, menu-based RPG minigame, more or less exactly like FF7...

    Wouldn't work unless we get like a unique set of 10 or so skills that we can use, that all jobs get, that are balanced. Because for example, MCH and BRD can't self heal outside of Second Wind, but a RDM can etc.


    In a sense, Masked Carnivale is the Arena content, and there's a specialized solo job designed especially for it.
