Know What Class I Wish For? Geomancer

Think about it; it's spells could change based on the area it's in. (I would say 'weather' but that would be annoying)

Give it a quick-cast 'stance' to reverse the elements it casts (IE: Fighting Titan? Stance into Reversing your spells and now everything you cast has an Aero-flavor!)

Plus, you can micro-manage based on the battlefield:
Standing on poison ground? Your spells now poison! (But still have the overall element-theme of the area)
The ground slows? Now so do your spells!

Give the Geomancer a way to mitigate painful DoT ground-effects in boss fights to power up his spells!

Or even some sort of elemental focus skill:
Cast this, and take on the Aspect of the surrounding Aether (IE: The element most prevalent), and it even changes how the Geomancer looks for the duration.
(He looks more earth-like and sturdy for earth, or his clothing becomes more wispy and flowing for wind, etc)

And that would feed into Reversing the element for boss fights; draw in the element, then reverse it, then start casting spells!

I dunno..I just think it'd be fun to have a class who's spells are themed based on where he is, and gain the effects of what he stands on.

In FFXIV Geomancer is literally what the Domans call Conjury (with a bit of Astrology thrown in), so CNJ is literally GEO under a different name and fused into WHM. So you won't actually get GEO as an actual playable Job I'm sorry to say (GEO NPCs show up in the Swallow's Compass dungeon).

Also elements have been completely removed from the main game so it's a moot point now having a 'traditional' FF GEO that creates spells based on the surrounding elements - it's simply not possible here.

Similar to Mystic Knight(RDM) and Time Mage(AST) Geomancer does have "a lot" in common with CNJ and WHM for it to seem unlikely. However unlike the other two, Geomancer and White Mage have a lot more unique traits to make a Geomancer job viable. True the Geomancers seen in XIV are very similar to CNJ, but GEO throughout the series have never acted like that, mostly. In the series proper Geomancers usually have access to all elements, and the ability to both set and avoid traps/damage. The way they have been presented in the series as a whole is one of the many reasons I hold out them being implimented as a tank. A lala can dream.

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

I think GEO could easily be incorporated. It can still use the same elements as CNJ to heal but in a whole new way. All they'd need to do is focus on using the Bell. Kind of like how RDM still uses the same elements to nuke as Black Mage and White Mage but in a different way.

When Scholar and Summoner were implemented and shared the same class I got very excited because I immediately thought of Geomancer sharing the Conjurer class with White Mage but being the DPS other half, focusing on elemental attacks and buffs. I was sad when they said they would never do split class/jobs again and seeing how Geomancer has been put into the lore of the game as being a whm/ast/cjn hybrid of sorts I doubt it will ever be a thing.

A lot of the jobs in XIV are mixtures of elements of other jobs from other titles. Scholar is a mix of Summoner and Green Mage, Astrologian is a mix of White Mage and Time Mage, Bard is a mix of Ranger and Bard. I love the mixtures because they allow for people to get a new fresh take on old jobs, but it also means that certain beloved jobs from the past may never get a full iteration in XIV.

I disagree, after going to swallow's compass and seeing all the geomancer related stuff in there I believe they will most likely be the next healer class. They are changing up the healing system in may so it could happen.

I could see GEO working as a ritual-based job, maybe using spell combos like NIN do with their mudras, or stances like BLM's but with a dynamic unlinked to mana, to trigger unique spell effects, and also focusing on their aspect of banishing wicked spirits. I don't think their current similarity to both AST and CNJ is a huge hindrance to their addition, as SE could easily embellish on their ability set later on. SE had an Onmyoji styled caster dps in the concept stage for SB, which was cut in favour of RDM, so it's not like they would be working from a total blank slate, unless the concept was really bad.

I'm totally for a GEO. Inf act, my dreams for 6.0 is to release three jobs. GEO as the healer, Chemist as another ranged DPS, and BLU as the fourth caster.

I think Geomancer has the potential to be an interesting job (mechanically) so definitely looking forward to a concept like it.

I understand that this lore may make things difficult but I have to say about lore (and proven true with things like Summoner) that the lore can shift to make Geomancer happen. If people want an area element based job then SE could certainly deliver one. I only say this strongly because you say it's "simply not possible" but I'll have to really disagree with that.

The lore should extremely rarely actually get in the way of anything. Demi happened, so can Geo. Actually Yoshi-P has gone on record saying the lore should not get in the way of the game.

Shouldn't go back and change lore (retcon) but I think it would be sad if you were to suggest there is no way SE can add new / more lore where a Geomancer like theme'd job could exist. Anyway I guess I just don't really like these lore noes because they've been proven different later many times, they're really not a good no. Bringing them up to show difficulty is fair, but to say something cannot happen.. I can't get behind that (especially as it's been said and shown to be adapted/added to later to make things work).

They also made Gaia's hammer a point of interest. Being a god of the earth and all. I wonder what type of magic she would wield?

Geomancy could be another two birds one stone thing like they did with Viera/Fran. Developing a new boss and a new job.
