Direct Chat Problem

Since the last patch I am having the frustrating problem of the direct chat glitch. So every time I log into the game I can't move because hitting any of the movement keys results in me entering the relevant chat - A for alliance etc.

So I go to Character Config - hit enable direct chat, apply, uncheck direct chat, apply. It may be ok for a few minutes or it may go back to the chat problem and be unable to move until I go back into character config and repeat the process. Since I usually log out near my house, changing instance such as entering my house will invariably cause the chat problem to rearise.

Please help, this is driving me absolutely nuts.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

You should find the direct chat option in the key bindings (usually this is set to 'Enter' by default). Do you have it bound to something else?

You may also want to try deleting the locally-saved data folder (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Make sure to back up this folder just in case it doesn't resolve the issue.

Thank you for replying.
The direct chat has no key binding as such but in the key binding section it is unchecked (top left corner).
I have deleted the folder as you suggested and we'll see how that goes.
I should also add that it only affects the first log in of the day - if I log out and back in again then it's fine. So if I log in an alt then my main it only affects the alt.
It happens every single day I log in and it's sending me up the bloody wall.
