If Eden is a FFVIII throwback, I'm hyped.

Mhm. I can hardly wait to see where they go with it. The picture they released resonates 8 to me. We will have to wait and see though. My fingers are crossed.

Some of the music in ShB is already reminding me of FF8 music, like the theme for the fancy part of Eulmore. I'm really hopeful that it's based around the GF Eden, considering the visual we have so far reminds me a ton of the garden from FF8.

My biggest hope is that we'll get some of my favorite FF8 boss fights this time around, with remixes to match the awesomeness.

Eden was a Garden, like Balamb/Galbadia, but more advanced. (Either ancient Centran, or maybe from the future) So that's why it's like a spaceship.

FFXIV doesn't really have anything like FFVIIIs 'Gardens' so I doubt that's what Eden is going to be.
Also, we're not fighting Eden, we're using the powerof Eden, so I'm gessing it's not something holy-themed, but more natural, maybe tied to the Elementals.

Perhaps the "Rokans" left something behind that could be used to strengthen the elements against the light.
I believe the Rokans were also in V? Featured as the floating ruins of an ancient hi-tech civilisation. Although FFXIVs Rokans are more magic based, like Mhach/Amdapor, they could have some floating ruin out there drifting on the threshold of the blinding light, which could well draw some parallels with an ancient Centran Garden of FFVIII.

VIII is and has always been my favourite in the series.
I am very much looking forward to seeing more substantive representations of it in XIV

15, 13 and 7 has been my fav in the series. maybe once the remake comes out ill get ff7 content
