finding darksteel ore

I have gathering and perception over 360. I know its suppose to be at 27, 18 north but its not there. the map guides are bolonly

You must have "Truth of the Mountains" skill buff (L46 Ability) activated in order to detect/see the Unspoiled Mineral Deposit during it's spawn period (1:00am ET and de-spawns after 5~10-ish minutes real time)
The spawn point is approximately at X27-Y19 (Haldrath's March - Coerthas Central Highlands, basically just outside Dragonhead to the south and along the west rock wall), but can vary a bit in that general area.
Like all Unspoiled or Legendary nodes, if you open the node and then close it, it poofs until it's next spawn, so make sure you are ready to use it before you open it.

Also you can go to the Diadem I head there when I need a good supply darksteel ore.

Is that an option solo? And how hard is it? I did extensive gathering in diadem 1 but only went in once into diadem 2

With an fc airship you can enter solo. Gathering rules don't change in there but you'll have to use stealth a lot to avoid nearby mobs.

You still need 2 people to enter with a FC airship but as soon as you are in the other person can leave. And as for using stealth you can use that but as you get to know how the mobs move you wont need it as much. And as a added bonus you can fly around and get the buried treasure coffers to get some Steel Sky Pirate Spoil.
