I gotten sick of the word "Fierce"

Anyway, like others have said, they're based on the Viera, the ff12 version in-fact.

If I may be so bold, when people think of viera; they think of ff12 Viera not the ones from FFT. I personally never even knew anything about FFT until the 24man, I only knew viera from FF12 as "most" people.

People have asked for this, People knew what viera wear, so I wouldn't blame Yoshi P and the team for giving us what we asked for.

The original FFT was only Humes and Lucavi. Other Ivalician races(Viera, Moogles, Bangaa, Nu Mou) were only added with the GBA and DS sequels, though the sequel to Tactics Advance is set between FF12: Revenant Wings and Tactics. This is a Viera in A2 btw:

Because when you're tall, powerful, and fierce, you really don't care what other races who aren't you in a place that isn't yours thinks about how you appear, of course.

Its racial gear. I havent seen anyone complaining about how highlander hempen gear is too sexy/showy (for both genders), or elezen (again both genders)

I was looking forward to playing a Viera for something different but that starting outfit is too much for me to overlook. They look like they are straight out of Forsaken World.

I thought you were better than that, Square Enix. Count me as disappointed.

Oh Kacho.. It's not so bad. When I think about a lot of the other games out there, SE is much more elegant with how their characters show skin in comparison. Cut them some slack. No doubt, the Viera will come in waves of sexy but this doesn't mean you have to keep them in their starter gear. You can clothe, robe, and armor them to your liking and you won't be alone. She can still be this 'fierce' warrior that you envision.

Amazon tribes are commonly known to wear skimpy outfits because there isn't males around to gawk at them all pervertedly. They can show off their proud warrior bodies without it being sexualized by the other tribe mates.

Because warriors aren't known for wearing gear that doesn't protect anything. Well, except for Celts, and they didn't fare too well against the Romans.

But Viera Warriors are and they seem to be doing quite well. Who are you to tell them they can't? Aether exists after all.

It's not just Fran, she dressed pretty much like all the other Viera in FFXII. Even those that had left the jungle and gone out exploring Ivalice forsaking the Green Ward. All Viera dressed like this, so having it as their racial gear makes perfect sense as they are Matsuno's race.

Should we mention Amazon women who live in a similar climate as Viera at all also and how they dressed throughout Earth's history?
