So do female viera refuse to let male viera stay in the villages with them at all?

Like, say a male Viera didn't want to live out in the forest. They'd be forced out of the village anyway? What if they'd gotten close to people there and didn't want to go? They'd get dragged away from their family kicking and screaming?

That isn't very nice... it seems cruel almost. :/ Male Viera deserve rights too. Sounds like the female Viera just use them to make babies and could care less about them otherwise.

I'd guess so, but we don't really know. Male viera may just be solitary by nature so it may not even be something that happen sin practice, but it does sound cruel for humans. Maybe viera are wired differently in the brain and they don't mind but I couldn't say.

I mean they do leave or are taken when they're turning into a teenager so maybe living with mom and not knowing how the other side is or really behaves is interesting enough or wanted by the males when they go into the towns every five years or whatever.

Nope. Because they're a creation of a fantasy world and do not experience that sort of thing.

Accurate description of their flavor of matriarchal society.

Yes. The Wandering Dramaturge says that, when the men come into the villages to mate every several years, they collect any adolescent males and take them into the jungle to be trained.

I'd like to imagine that the writers during the time of Final Fantasy 12 had pages of their own Viera fan-fiction that higher-ups never allowed to see the light of day. XD

It's going to be up to this team to fill in the holes and create some proper backstory- although lots of fans have kinda taken up that responsibility; hehe.

Bunch of male viera around a camp fire....

"This is bull man, they keep kicking us out and we take it! We should fight back!"
    "yea!"
    "here here!"
    "down with the matriarchy"
    ....
    several minutes later
"So John.. When are you heading back for breeding ritual?"
"Tomorrow, can't wait to see her again!"
"coo coo cool, well I'm going to sleep - night!"

. That said it does seem pretty dark/off sort of system so I hope SE explores it, perhaps with males who are not fit/don't want to leave a village and how that's like for them.

Also on a counter thought, when people were discussing what male Viera would most likely look like I thought what might lead a culture like this and make sense would be one out of necessity. What if the reason they separate is out of biological necessity, that the male Viera go through a significant transformation that makes living together non-optimal? For example in their lore we know they are /extremely/ territorial and aggressive, so perhaps the male Viera super sayian at puberty?

Another fun thought experiment that came out of that (in the gender lock thread) was if it went the other way, like birds where the males become colorful, and perhaps start excreting a very strong attraction pheromone such that the males have to leave otherwise the rabbits make like rabbits and destroy the forest from overpopulation lol (female Viera cant help themselves ).

Anyway, especially if male Viera become a thing in the future (to play), I hope SE goes over the concept because it's just "but y, but no seriously but y, I get what you're saying.. but y?" otherwise lol.

Yes, the entire race of Viera have been lobotomized by the Green Word and experience only a narrow range of pre-approved thoughts and emotions.

Possibly, though until they write it into lore we don't know for sure.

Currently lore just states that they don't live together, due to the guys hanging out on their own in the wood *shrugs*

Also the main point of my post was that.... it's a fantasy game made up by some people. They can write them to work however they want, and since it's a fantasy world it doesn't necessarily have to make sense to our conventions.

Edit: It would also make an interesting reason as to why they are ruled by the women (assuming they are the big bad warrior buns we are told they are)
