    Question?

when making tanks why does it always have be a bladed weapon. wars have axes "Bladed" paladins have swords "Bladed" dark knights have "2handed swords" bladed "gunbreaker" another sword. ninja bladed . rdm "bladed" samurai" bladed

we enough swords in the game. could come up like some blunt weapons something like war hammer. frail. morning star. whips or something. adding bit of crushing weapons to the weapon with some raw power

    please no more swords

Give paladins - Maces. Morning Stars. frails
    Give Wars - War-hammers
    give Dark knights - Scythes
give ninja - kusarigama - watch was bladed and blunt weapon
thou i cant see samurai using any other then katana

i mean different weapon types for same class. not that have any issue using sword and broad pretty sure, having more weapon choices even if their just cosmatic would be cool

    It doesn't.

Just, edged weapons are very popular, due to their versatility (Effective against light and medium armour, swords can still thrust between plates of heavy armour etc)

Since when have Ninja, Red Mage and Samurai been Tanks?

Also, RDM use a rapier, which is a thrusting weapon (Thus would be "Piercing")

Ninja is also weird because they do slashes and stabs (Stabs would be piercing) but then again, reverse grip is wholly unpractical for actual fighting >.>

Uhh... Whips aren't "Crushing" weapons... Also, they're quite likely to cause lacerations like edged weapons.

Also, technically, Axes can be considered a "Crushing" weapon, given they have a similar functionality to a hammer, only with an edge that enables them to cut into lighter targets (One of the reasons why axes ended up being more popular than hammers)

But outside of that, sure, there could be more "Blunt" weapons. Hammers/Maces, Flails, Staves, War Picks, Sai, Tonfa etc.

Though, we're not likely to see a new tank for a while...

I mean, this would be predicated on them wanting to create multiple weapon types for one class (Well, outside of things such as DRG using a variety of Spears, Lances and Halberds or Monks using Knuckles, Claws and Push Daggers)

As opposed to making new jobs with the new weapon types.

Not to play devil's advocate, but a reverse grip is slightly more ideal than what would be considered the "proper" grip. The main reason for this is because of our own anatomy. With a "proper" grip, similar to how PLDs hold their swords, the blade can be easily twisted inward and used against the person wielding it. However, with a reverse grip, the blade is a lot harder to twist. There are other advantages as well, but those are more weapon and wielder specific, as well as more media based. But a reverse grip is a thing, and is very practical.

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

Actually, historically a blade up (regular) grip was much preferred to a blade down (reverse/icepick) grip when working with longer bladed weapons. Reverse grip on a long blade limits the angles at which you can throw a cut properly (i.e. with any kind of force) and lowers your reach with most types of cuts, at least with most Western systems of sword martial arts (such as what PLD is loosely based on).

Reverse grip was almost always used historically for the thrust, at which it's extremely good because you can put a ton of force into a downward thrust with a dedicated stabbing weapon (like a rondel dagger, for example).

On topic, a big heck no to the subject of multiple weapon types for jobs (especially scythes on DRK, greatsword or bust). Make jobs designed for those weapons, IMO

I think you misunderstood me. I was using PLDs grib as an example of a regular grip, not the reverse/ice pick grip. I was simply stating that a reverse grip, especially on Ninja makes sense. And that for safety reasons a reverse grip is preferred for a variety of weapons.

Wow, I honestly don't know how to interpret that video. Are you agreeing, being funny, sarcastic, or did you honestly not understand what I said.

The easiest way I can probably simplify what I was saying, without coming across as rude is this; there is a reason they say don't run with scissors.

It's an explanation of the weaknesses of reverse grip with shortblades, done completely in poetic form.
