I know I may be the odd man out with this one but (In my Tidus voice) "Listen to my story."

I took somewhat of a break the last few months and recently returned to the game and attempted to kind of just catch up on things. I went back and did a few of the fights like the 4 lords and Omega trials. I even went back revisited the Warring Triad. What I found myself noticing is that I really appreciated the tracks that didn't have vocals mainly because it reminds me of the older games that either saved the "vocal" themes for final bosses like Sephiroth adding that kind of epic opera feel with the chants alongside the booming ochestral sections of the song. I know adding vocals to battle themes didn't really get popular in the series until FFX with Otherworld. And later became somewhat of a mainstay with FFXIII.

It's cool but I actually really enjoyed Seiryu's theme and kept imaging hearing it as I fought a boss in the oldschool games. I thought it was awesome. Same thing with the Zurvan, Shinryu and Thordan themes which to me actually sound like final boss themes and not some Jpop anime OP like Suzaku's. And as much as I enjoyed the Sephirot and Goddess songs, I feel like they just didn't fit. Same thing with Omega's theme. And that's not taking away from the awesomeness of the tracks at all...I just kind of miss the epic non-vocal songs. I will make an exception for Answers though.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks to those who listened all the way through. lol. But this is something that was on my mind while listening to the songs on Youtube and seeing a lot of comments of people going, "Where are the lyrics?" or "this song is lackluster because there are no lyrics."

TLDR: I miss boss BGMs with no lyrics and I hope ShB has more of that.
