Lol that too. My alts are pretty much their own people. I really only would be interested in trading crafted gear because not all of them are quite up to the crafting standards of my main.
It is very alt-unfriendly. And it's not entirely true that you can do everything on one character. With crafting specialists, you need 3 characters now to have all specialists available to you because of the limitation of having only 3 on a single character.
Not to mention desynthesis, though, the higher levels are less distinct, iirc.
Yes, thank you for the reminder about the limit there as well.
I would say no cause of GIL also retainers no reason to put retainers for sale on mog station.
you could say they could limit what could be traded but then what would be the point of having the trade option to begin with.
Do you need alts? No. Does not mean that there is anything wrong with making some QoL improvements for alt characters. Some people like playing multiple characters. A big example i can think of would be rpers. Also hc crafters. Ect ect.

You're absolutely right in principle and I'd like to see it too, but the fact is
1) It would cost (probably a lot) to implement
2) It can directly impact their pockets by making it less tempting to buy additional retainers
I can't see them implementing QoL feature that will cost them AND directly impact their money making.
You're right, it would be a horrible business decision to do this and the higher-ups would be upset to see their profit margins being narrowed. Having to have a friend/spouse help trade items between your characters is annoying but if you can tolerate the annoyance then you probably won't ever buy the expanded storage options anyway. People claim that 2 retainers is all you need but they haven't been playing long enough or aren't interested in making gil and/or having a nice glam wardrobe.*shivering intensifies*

What I ~DO~ see them doing however is add a new type of storage option and maybe add more slots to the glam dresser. People are legitimately frustrated with the glam dresser and I can see at least that having more slots in 5.0 and in interviews it has been said they are looking into it.
A couple of my wishes:
*Be able to mail items directly to characters on the same world (with or without the need to be friended).
*Be able to send some bound items to characters on the same world. This would be taking a page from XI. While not all gear/items are transferable, a huge amount of items qualify in that game. With XIV, I'm personally thinking bound furnishings. I'm sure others may have some items to add that wouldn't be game breaking.
*Be able to share a home/apartment with alts automatically
*Have a chest available either in inns or available via housing/apartments that can be shared with all characters on the world.
I can't really see them adding any of the above, but a girl can dream :/ It's really hard not to compare GW2 when thinking of this issue. They do such a fantastic job with having shared vaults, currency, materials, etc. Even XI is ahead of the game here with some of the points and that game is ancient![]()

Something from Aion that I liked was having an account wide inventory. You had 6 or 7 slots that would be shared across any and all characters you made on that server. And I think unlimited money storage.
