Game instantly closes in the Kienkan(DX11)

So I don't get any errors for this, other than one in the debug(and that might not even be for FFXIV specifically, it might be from Textools)

[0410/033540.296:ERROR:settings.cc(325)] Settings version is not 1

I've tested, and it has nothing to do with Textools, and activating DX9 seems to fix it, but DX9 has its own host of errors I don't want to mess with. Anyone dealt with this before?

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

When did this first start happening? Did anything change/update on your PC that coincides with this?

Do you notice any patterns to this (happens only in specific places or only while doing specific actions)?

You mentioned that it's not related to Textools. How are you certain of this? Have you removed it and the issue persists?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Hey Ein! Sorry I took so long to respond. I just picked up the game after not playing for a long time, so it's technically the first time I actually played since 4.3. It specifically happens in Kienkan castle and I think the Azim Steppe when the quest pointed me in that direction. Also yes, I've completely removed it before and checked, the issue continued to persist. I also noticed that it doesn't happen when I use DX9, but DX9 has several errors and stuff on it's own and I'd rather just try to get DX11 working.

Check windows event logs, as errors generally appear there regardless of whether the XIV client itself produces one.

Thank you for the information GunnertheMage.

Since there's no error message, it makes it a bit difficult to pinpoint where the error is coming from. I'm going to give a couple suggestions to try and alleviate the crash.

    1) Try reinstalling/updating your graphics card drivers.

    2) Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

    3) Close any other programs you may have open and aren't using, especially overlays (Geforce Experience, Discord Overlay, etc.)

    4) Set compatibility mode to Windows 7. Right-click on the ffxivboot.exe file and select ‘Properties.’ Then select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and choose Windows 7.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
