A lot has changed since I've come back to XIV. Some things never change though. Namely the vitriol. And idk if because of the influx of wow refugees or what but I've noticed a bit more of it now than what I recall in the past. However, it does seem to me that it's most prominent in PF.
My most recent experience was in a seriyu ex clear/farm. I main PLD and have already cleared twice before once with my fc and again in a random pf. When I just kindly ask the other tank if he minds MTing as I've only OT I get "lolwut pld never mts this isnt 2013 bro" instead of just a sure or np. I shrug it off and just say okay. When we go in, the group is using a marker placement I hadn't seen before (all clumped together, I understand what it's for now tho) but I already know where I'm going for markers as OT (2-B in this case) and I state that in the pt chat. But because I wasnt playing this little marker minigame, that I can only conclude to be common core for mmo strategy, showing where we'd be in the encounter I'm met with "omg pld" "do you even know" "GL with clear lolol" light party, kicked. 20min later I join another clear group and more or less the same thing except just the other tank leaves. Do people not just place markers for the fight and ppl call their Mark's anymore lol?
Now, theres a lot I can take but amount of passive aggressive BS is palpable. Isnt there already a tank shortage? Why would anyone, especially other tanks, try to belittle and demoralize someone over this is beyond me. I mean, I cleared throdan ex when he was relevant playing solo going through PF ffs.
In conclusion, I suppose I'm partly to blame. I have been gone since just a few weeks after SB launch. So its apparent I'm behind on the current way marks are done. This expansion was just very "meh" to me but I'm stoked for shadowbringers so I'm prepping for that. Just an unfortunate experience I had within my first 2 weeks of being back. Still love this game and everyone in it sorry for the rant!
